Windows 7 and Jazz?
Hey guys
I have a mac book and run windows 7 on it. I can get my jazz to run like it should it makes my system crash and what not. I am thinking of fireing up my old windows 98se computer for the best game ever. So two things How hard would it to be to get jazz to run on 98se? and what are the popular online versons, Also Can i have more then one install at a time? Thanks guys |

JJ2 shouldn't be making your computer crash at all, it runs fine on Windows 7 on the three machines I've used it with. It should run perfectly on any version of Windows 9x, but then you're running Windows 9x and that's pretty bad of itself. I don't really know what you're asking with your last two questions but you should probably be more concerned about your system's apparent instability.

There's only two "versions." Retail (1.23 being the latest patched version), and The Secret Files (which is numbered version 1.24 to prevent incompatibilities).
1.23 is the more popular version for online play since TSF was never released outside of a small portion of Europe, but this is moot thanks to Blur's JJ2+, which adds a ton of multiplayer features, compatibility between the two existing versions and some bugfixes. As long as you've got either of those, they can be patched to plus versions. |

First, I would suggest joining another game to make sure you haven't forgotten to allow jj2 through any firewalls you may have, or anything that might prevent online gameplay, and to make sure there are actually other people online at the moment. Then, open "New Game", "Party Mode", "Internet Play", "

The only potential problem I can think of is if your OS is using hardware Data Execution Prevention, though I wouldn't know anything about DEP causing entire systems to crash. What exactly are you seeing on the system crash?
If you're actually having a problem with hardware DEP, you can either disable it for JJ2 or you can use JJ2+ which should solve any DEP problems.

There is a JJ2 version comparable to 1.23 that runs natively on Mac OS. I think it's compatible with online play, though it doesn't include JCS. Demo here: http://www.dutchfurs.com/~haze/blog/.../mac/shareware
And the colors being 'messed up' could be caused by the Aero themes from Vista and 7, I remember there was a compatibility option to turn advanced themes off when a specific program is running. Just right click on the Jazz2 shortcut or exe, choose Properties, and switch to the Compatibility tab.
