I just lost all reason to continue what I started.

So I've been unable to host JJ2 for a while now. I set my computer back up to a dynamic local ip address and gave up. I had the correct ports forwarded to my IP: 192.168.1.4 but still no luck when I set up a static IP address of 192.168.1.4.

Then something amazing happened. One day, while testing a level, I noticed people joined my server. I looked at my ipconfig and it turned out that I had been assigned the IP address *.4 and so it worked. Yayyy. Well now today while testing a level I made, I went to host... And my server pings. I opened ipconfig, looked at my IP address and it had been re-assigned to 192.168.1.5. FML. So I tried creating a static IP address (192.168.1.4). But yet people can't join. How come people can join under a dynamic IP address but not a static one??? What's going on??? Is there something I need to do in my Network Configuration???

ASK QUESTIONS AND HELP PLEASE! I was working on a level pack. The only reason I started it was because I became able to host. Now that I'm unable to host... it feels rather pointless.

You could use my solution, aka UPnP. I could link the files somewhere, if you want.

I've tried that already, though the documentation I had wasn't that great. If you think it's a viable solution, upload the files and I'll give it a shot.

This is a download link.

I included two different UPnP controllers, so that if other doesn't work, you can try the other one.

And, to ensure that you have turned UPnP on, do this:
Go to add/remove programs
-> Add/remove windows components
-> Networking services
-> Check UPnP user interface.
Close all with OK's and such, then go to:
Run
-> services.msc
-> Check that SSDP discovery service is set to 'automatic' and is started.
Then just run either Add10052TCPandUDP.bat or AddJJ2.
and give reputation

Hmm it might be that your router doesn't support UPnP or it isn't on. Try looking for something that would enable it, if you still want to try UPnP.
Edit: Oh, and could you tell me your router's model?

I was able to host servers when my ip address was 192.168.1.4 but it re-assigned me to 192.168.1.5 today and when I went to set a static 192.168.1.4 it still won't host my server just pings. Do you get that? I shouldn't need this BS.

How often does your router give you new static IP? You could just take off that static, because it doesn't seem to work, and just reroute the ports. I might be more help after school, if you would give me the router model.

It sounds like your DMZ is most likely set to .4 I have a dynamic as well so every time i restart my PC it changes =D, What fun.

Should be in your router settings page. This is a common problem for most people who can't host

And dermo the same thing happened for me with the whole "omg people are joining my server o.O". Then the next day i tried hosting my server was pinging again. Its a safe bet that you need to change your dmz.

if your router keeps giving you a different IP (Ala DHCP), Then you will need to associate an IP with your computer's MAC address.
