I really can't help but to notice how much the tileset in this (apparently somewhat popular(?)) game looks like Carrotus without the carrots.

Just the two first screenshots alone are at least interesting.
Just like how Earthworm Jim pretty much set the foundations for the Damn and Inferno tilesets this is all just pretty jj2ish i think.

Yeah, Pekka Kana 2 is much closer than this smartphony thing. Heck, you could say that the Iconoclasts grassy area is based on Carrotu, since it's got green grass on top of orange ground.

(really I'm just using this thread as an excuse to post that game because it looks awesome.)

The tile shapes and colors look similar yes, but the drawing style looks more shaded here. Like Angry Birds or your average Flash cartoon..

Back on subject though, I agree, it does look like Carrotus, although it has that sort of... iPhone App edge to it... Not sure how to describe it. :L I guess I'll try to anyway... It's a bit like the difference between Rayman 1 and Rayman Origins. Rayman 1 has more detail put into it, but it's a lower resolution(Around 320x240), while Rayman Origins has a very high resolution(1920x1080), but it's more cartoony.

Pekka Kanna 2 looks like if Carrotus and Xargon had a baby.

Parachute just reminds me of JJ2 because of the blocks layout. Looks almost like a tubelectric or castle type of deal combined with carrotus.

iirc it's even stated on the pk2 website that jazz2 was a major inspiration
