Art
Quite to the contrary, I say... Well-made ASCIIart is considered a very highly regarded art form in the computer geek world. I mean, art where you go through and make it entirely with ASCII symbols on your own accord, not whipping something through an image-to-ASCII converter. Though that's still interesting to look at.
Not only can you get neat-looking things out of ASCIIart, you can also make good with clever use of ASCII and your language of choice. It's fascinating to watch.
