Thumbs down Problem conecting to listservers with 1.23.

Recently, i've been getting nothing but errors when trying to conect to the listservers using 1.23. TSF conects to the listservers normaly, but with 1.23 i've only been getting "error conecting to listservers". I've checked the registry settings, and for as far as i know, there's nothing wrong with them. Anyone know whats wrong and/or how to fix it?

So you've got jazz.logicware.com in the registry? Hm...if so I'm not too sure. Perhaps a typo in it or something.

Try Alberto's JJ2 1.23 exe file with the listservers built in, you can get it on J2O for HH98, 1.23 and TSF. Backup your old exe first. But basically it should speed up connections to list servers and sometimes hosting games, and in some cases it allows people to connect to the listservers properly.

Also if you have a firewall set up, you may not have given JJ2 access to the internet, forgetting it and giving only TSF access. If you have a firewall, check to make sure that JJ2 is given access to the ports and the net as well as TSF.

Maybe there were no 1.23 servers up at the moment. That gives an error?

I think most of the time that gives a continuous 'Retrieving listservers' message (most of the time).

Defalcon, is that listservers patch the same as the one at Haze's Hideout ? Is it also available for all versions? So does it matter where I download it from?

Okay, I've reinstalled my games okay. But now I'm having this very problem. I can't get to the servers because it gives me an error retrieving servers. What is the registry? How can I check it out? What am I looking for with it?

Thanks.

Okay, sorry. That was funny, but I'll explain: the Windows registry is a core component of Microsoft Windows. Programs store data there, along with Windows, on how to behave, settings, how they run, what they do etc. In the case of JJ2, it's player setup, listserver settings and some other things. Seeing as how you know little about it, I wouldn't go fiddling, you can seriously mess up your computer if you don't know what you're doing.

Um, some causes are:

1. Slow connection (d/l, talking etc)
2. DON'T SWITCH WINDOWS!, (it might make an error)
3. ... um

Yeah, delete the Microsoft windows keys and see what happens. lol, jk.
The registry is where you can do all this cool stuff, but you should learn what you're doing first before you just click run and go to regedit. When you know what you're doing, it's FUN! lol

Remember that if you do edit the registry manually, the list server entry should look like this:

000 "jazz.logicware.com"
001 "monolith.idlegames.com"

I remember the first time I did it, there was no 000 entry (I thought it started with 001), and it didn't work until I figured out what was wrong.
