Help mej

Well, the problem is, there is this thingie called wscript. It slowed down my computer so far that I couldnt do anything anymore and had to reboot it. I pushed ctrl+alt+delete and I saw that wscript was running like 20 times, so I shut 'em all down and I could do everything at normal speed again. But after a few seconds they were all back again. Then I searched for wscript and it was in C:\Win98 and double clicked it and set it to close the program after one second. Now the proggies still start but close after one second. Does anyone know a real solution to this?

I have a:
Pentium III 500 mhz
64 MB ram
Windows 98

thnx in advantage!

When does it occur?

There is a virus called Wscript.Kakworm but does not fit the description of what your getting... try using Ad-Aware or your virus scanner if you can.

Try looking for it in your service manager and disabling it...

Otherwise you can always reformat. ;P

What else is in this directory, C:\Win98?

Do you know what wscript is? (Is it something you installed?)

Have you done a full virus scan with the latest definitions?

Have you checked for it or anything else suspicious in your startup config? (Startup group, msconfig, registry, etc...)

WoW! Only 4 questions!

I've done a virus scan with the latest updates and I got some virusses, I removed them but there are two in my despktop.htt files, C:\Win98\profiles\nameofprofile\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop.htt.
I can't remove those desktop.htt files from my pc with my virus scanner because acces is denied, and I don't know if its a file that I need or that can be downloaded again...
help!

Access is denied because the files are in use. Start the computer in safe mode to delete the files. Desktop.htt is automatically generated, so there should be no problem in deleting it.

Windows scripting host is not a virus, but it can be used to run them. (Which is likely the case here)
