If i downloaded the 1.24 patch can i still join 1.23 games?

No. You can copy your JJ2 folders to a different place, and then run the patch on it. You have to have 2 different folders per version. This should be in Technical Help, by the way.

It's here on j20 somewhere, maybe still on the news page, but you can check the downloads page and find it for sure.
I was looking at it last week here but decided i'd use tsf if I wanted to play 1.24 . .
