Error with tileset

I've been working on a tileset for a while, and suddenly I get this error.

Error! Can't open file "D:\Games\Jazz2mine\Tiles\maya.bmp"

I don't know why it just happens, and it is persistant(meaning no matter what I still get the error)

Somebody please help, I have worked really hard on this tileset and I do NOT want to start all over.

No idea. Try opening it in a different program.

Sorry if I was unclear, I get that error if I try to compile my tileset.

Is it in 8 bit (or indexed color, or 256 color, or whatever)?

Is it actually a bitmap? Sometimes when I'm saving a tileset in PSP, I have Paint Shop Pro Image (or whatever else) selected, but I type in the .bmp, and it saves. But in that case it's like a .psp image renamed to .bmp.

Does the file still exist under that name? You didn't rename the file, but not update the tileset's info in JCS?

Did you used to be able to compile the tileset? If so, what have you changed since?

Well whatever. I don't care about color, I saved it in like 16-bit or 32-bit or whatever, that one big huge gradient thing.

I think 16 bit's probably more likely.

It's really a common mistake, I agree with Unknown.

MSPAINT has it for a default, so it's obviously usually chosen.

'cept I use PSP7 and instead of the gradient you can have it show the pallete you are using.

*feels really, REALLY embarresed*
