As I look into the trademark database of the US, and I search for Jazz Jackrabbit I find three copyrights.

Jazz Jackrabbit 3D
Jazz Jackrabbit
Jazz Jackrabbit

We already knew about the first two. I want to concentrate on the second one. Why did epic register the same name twice? It is because it has two different purposes.

Jazz Jackrabbit 3D and Jazz Jackrabbit both say "Goods and Services: IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: computer game software for personal computers, home video game consoles and arcade based video game consoles. FIRST USE: 19940801. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 19940801"

Now the intresting part. The third Jazz Jackrabbit trademark says

Goods and Services: IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: entertainment in the nature of animated TV series

This means that there was, or still is planned a Jazz Jackrabbit TV series. The trademark was first made in March 28, 1997. And the dead/live status still says that the project is alive.

You just can't make a bunch of lovable characters like Jazz and his freinds/family/enemies and not make at least SOME plans on a TV show.

Interesting...but I definetly do not want Jazz going /that/ mainstream. I mean...look what happened to Sonic, eh? The only thing that would be interested for Jazz methinks would be comic books. TV - no.

Ha, old news. At least to me. For a while there had been talks around Epic HQ of, indeed, making an animated series. So they went out, registered the trademark, opted the idea and it all got canned.

It's funny you should say that, because it reminds me of something I heard a while ago on this one particular cartoon. I can't remember the name of it, but it was about this animal watching T.V. You couldn't see what it was watching, but I noticed a few of the sounds made from it came from Spaz. I found that sort of interesting.

I often see cartoons and stuff steal sounds from games and other cartoons.. I also heard the sound of spaz jumping on a spring once but that had (in the cartoon) nothing to do with Jazzjackrabbit.
well.. IF they would make a cartoon out of JJ2 it would probably be some childish program with some green rabbit who always saves the day and stuff.....

Jazz Jackrabbit as a character did not exist when your mom was a kid unless she is 5 years old, which I seriously dobut.

Deja vu, perhaps, because Jazz Jackrabbit did not exist as a character back then. Maybe it was a different series about animated rabbits?

Roseta, as the television series trademark was not filed until March 28, 1997, it's pretty unlikely your mother has seen it when she was a kid.

The patent was filed in 1997. If your mom remembers it from before 1997, it's something else. Also, I'm 100% sure it was not aired yet (after 1997) since I'm sure we would have heard of it if it actually had any episodes. Likely another dead project that Epic tossed in the trash after Jazz stopped getting them money (i.e. a lot quicker than they thought.)

Originating from a comic drawn by Neal Adams, he starred in his own animated series around 1990. Again the level of the comic was brought down to saturday morning cartoon quality, but at least he got a show of his own.

wow, not like I would watch it(OK mabey I would but...) if they did pull it off then that would certainly expand our fanbase (you know little kids, all they do is sit in watch TV all day, and I'm sure that at least a few of them will see Jazz.)and maybe EPIC could make some money off it. Epic planned a lot of things about Jazz Jackrabbit that never happened and never will happen. If you look at many of the sections of jazzjackrabbit.com, they feature such things as "the game makers vs. the players" and large competitions. I wouldn't get excited over this, but there's still a small chance that it could happen. I wouldn't keep my hopes up, though.

Yeah, it just sometimes amazes me how rediculous some of the ideas there were, and now this T.V. series coming up. It appears Epic had very inflated expectations for Jazz. As long as we don't find a trademark for Jazz Jackrabbit Happy Meal toys, I think I'll be fine.

Hey, I liked the cartoon serie with Coyote and this MIEP-MIEP thing! That was great!!!

I´d love to see a cartoon serie with Jazz, but I don´t think, that there will be a serie...
