More Jazz 2 Useless Trivia
NOTE: Those who do not play will be considered Jazz 2 foos/JCS novices and collectively fed to the Snufuss. Yes, that is a challenge. Thank you for your time.
Since the old topic has fallen into the back pages of the forum, I've decided to just create a new one. Here is the next batch of questions. A refresher course on the rules: 1. Do not copy other's answers, no matter how enticing they may be. 2. Beware of trick questions - there usually are some. 3. Getting a low score in these tests does not mean you lack JJ2 knowledge, and I will immediately disqualify anyone from the standings that makes fun of anyone for their scores (unless it's something like "Wow, with that score you must really be a Jazz 2 addict!") or boasting of their's. 4. Use common sense. I just write this rule because I am too lazy to think of the rest. 5. You can only answer the current batch of questions. When they're done, they're done. And now for the questions: 1. Shortly before Jazz 2's release, the Jazz 2 team claimed that there would be 12 guns. Assuming they were not counting shields, what are two of the other three guns that are in the game but can not be fired? (Hint: They do not have their own event in JCS and do not come from enemies. You also do not see them in most levels and they are not used in any of the official levels.) 2. What was the first game to be released using the Jazz 2 engine? 3. Which game, Jazz 1 or Jazz 2, uses more 3D hardware effects with ambient lighting turned off? 4. Which JCF user has the most warnings? 5. Early in Jazz 2's existance, Jazz2City was looking for photos of what Jazz 2 team member? 6. Say that "John" was creating a Jazz 2 level. John had a set up somewhat like this, where each event took up three horizontal tiles: No Event No Event No Event No Event No Event One Way - Solid Block One Way - Solid Block No Event (1) No Event (2) V-Pole No Event No Event No Event "John" had a problem. When the rabbit came out of the one way solid block, Jazz would go really high above the ground and into a secret area it was not supposed to be able to get into. Which event could "John" place in the tile labled "No Event (2)" in order to make it so Jazz would not fly as high when he came out of the one ways? 7. What bug related to ammo amount did the 1.23 patch fix in multiplayer but not in single player? 8. The "TSF Virus" was, in fact, not a virus. What was it actually classified as? 9. What are the servers with the name "Unknown" on the server list actually and why are they impossible to join? 10. A Jazz quiz on Jazz2Stuff (news on it was posted on Jazz2City) was created way back in 1998 and many people took it. Who got the highest score? There are only 10 questions this time around, but each are worth 2 points since they are much harder. I will start with a new, fresh batch of scores. Have fun, and good luck. CURRENT SCORES 1. Fl@sh (5) Unknown Rabbit (5) 3. Link (4.5) NOTE: Link actually got 5.5, but I subtracted 1 since it was a second try. 4. Spaztic (3.5) Newspaz (3.5) 6. Another Jazz 2 Fan (2.5) Unhit (2.5) 8. MR. MAGOO (2)

1.) I have no idea what they are called, but I know people have found them using MCE's. There is like a fire laser thing and other crap.
2.) Battery Check, methinks 3.) Even though my trick question detector says that because Jazz1 wouldn't seem to be the correct answer would make it probably the correct answer, I'm going to say Jazz2. 4.) I don't know. GenEX? Jesus? 5.) Clifford B 6.) You can't. Nothing. Notta. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Null. Empty. Void. You're screwed. Jesus hates you. 7.) The ability to get more than 99 of an ammo via getting a powerup. 8.) A load of ****. 9.) They are strange version numbers some idiot came up with. 10.) The person who made it.

I'm assuming you mean the Fireball gun unpowered up and powered up, despite those both being the same. Unless you mean the Blade Gun, whose image you can get by changing sprite values sometimes. 2. What was the first game to be released using the Jazz 2 engine? Battery Check, which you bought with batteries. 3. Which game, Jazz 1 or Jazz 2, uses more 3D effects with ambient lighting turned off? (JJ1 has ambient lighting?) Uhhh.. JJ1? 4. Which JCF user has the most warnings? That's unfair. How could anyone know that? And any answer I could give would be a personal attack. 5. Early in Jazz 2's existance, Jazz2City was looking for photos of what Jazz 2 team member? Michiel? 6. Say that "John" was creating a Jazz 2 level. John had a set up somewhat like this, where each event took up three horizontal tiles: (diagram) "John" had a problem. When the rabbit came out of the one way solid block, Jazz would go really high above the ground and into a secret area it was not supposed to be able to get into. Which event could "John" place in the tile labled "No Event (2)" in order to make it so Jazz would not fly as high when he came out of the one ways? Float up. Or he could just make the one way blocks taller. 7. What bug related to ammo amount did the 1.23 patch fix in multiplayer but not in single player? Having more then the maximum by shooting powerups. 8. The "TSF Virus" was, in fact, not a virus. What was it actually classified as? A trojan? I'm really not sure what you're talking about. 9. What are the servers with the name "Unknown" on the server list actually and why are they impossible to join? There aren't any on the server list. gip.php, on the other hand, is different. 10. A Jazz quiz at Jazz 2 Stuff was created way back in 1998 and many people took it. Who got the highest score? Dino, I believe. I could check, but I won't - sounds like cheating. I'm not sure what you mean UR. Telling the answer would not be a personal attack. There is actually a solid number. And I ask this because it isn't impossible to know. There is a large difference between the first and second place.

That blade one and the firey pepper-spray stuff that looked exactly like an enemy shot from Hocus Pocus. 2. What was the first game to be released using the Jazz 2 engine? Battery Test... or something like that. 3. Which game, Jazz 1 or Jazz 2, uses more 3D effects with ambient lighting turned off? Huh? Well, since its a 50-50, I'll guess Jazz 2, becuase the bgs are 3d. 4. Which JCF user has the most warnings? Woah! Is he banned or not? I'd say Bjarni if he's banned, and Freelance for not banned. 5. Early in Jazz 2's existance, Jazz2City was looking for photos of what Jazz 2 team member? Ummm... where do you get these from?? Hmm... doesn't hurt to guess. Jon? 6. Say that "John" was creating a Jazz 2 level. John had a set up somewhat like this, where each event took up three horizontal tiles: (snip) "John" had a problem. When the rabbit came out of the one way solid block, Jazz would go really high above the ground and into a secret area it was not supposed to be able to get into. Which event could "John" place in the tile labled "No Event (2)" in order to make it so Jazz would not fly as high when he came out of the one ways? Oh, what are those thingies called... One of those things that freezes Jazz? (Stop time? Freeze Enemies? I forget...) 7. What bug related to ammo amount did the 1.23 patch fix in multiplayer but not in single player? Shooting powerups let you surpass the max. 8. The "TSF Virus" was, in fact, not a virus. What was it actually classified as? A worm? 9. What are the servers with the name "Unknown" on the server list actually and why are they impossible to join? I've never seen one 10. A Jazz quiz on Jazz2City was created way back in 1998 and many people took it. Who got the highest score? Oh god. What? Hmm... Wakeman? AJ2f

Re: More Jazz 2 Useless Trivia
And now for the questions:
1. Shortly before Jazz 2's release, the Jazz 2 team claimed that there would be 12 guns. Assuming they were not counting shields, what are two of the other three guns that are in the game but can not be fired? (Hint: They do not have their own event in JCS and do not come from enemies. You also do not see them in most levels and they are not used in any of the official levels.) I don't think they ever were made. The blade gun was simply changed. And the fireball ammo only showed up in TSF. 2. What was the first game to be released using the Jazz 2 engine? I'm not sure if it actually was Battery Check. It might also have been JJ2. But my best guess is on Battery Check 3. Which game, Jazz 1 or Jazz 2, uses more 3D effects with ambient lighting turned off? Jazz1? The 3D bonus episodes were great ![]() 4. Which JCF user has the most warnings? Probably Slayer 5. Early in Jazz 2's existance, Jazz2City was looking for photos of what Jazz 2 team member? I think it's Jon Maclellan also known as Jeh or Evil_bill 6. I would probably just put a heavy wind up there or some ceiling springs?! I don't think this question is very clear 7. What bug related to ammo amount did the 1.23 patch fix in multiplayer but not in single player? I have no clue, I suck, shoot me. 8. The "TSF Virus" was, in fact, not a virus. What was it actually classified as? A lame hax0r ![]() 9. What are the servers with the name "Unknown" on the server list actually and why are they impossible to join? I have no clue. I think it might be XJJ2 mistakes 10. A Jazz quiz on Jazz2City was created way back in 1998 and many people took it. Who got the highest score? Dino |

I'm so bad at these, but here goes.
1. Hard to explain, one of them is like a disc, the other one is like a purple flame type thing.. 2. Erm.. Unreal? 3. Jazz1, although this is a complete guess. 4. Er, SSBPiccolo? He's banned, but whatever. 5. WAKEMAN AHAHAHA 6. There's more than one possibility for this one, but I'm guessing a y-axis sucker tube that will slow Jazz down a bit. 7. Oh, I know this one. The bug where you keep collecting ammo even after it's full. 8. It was called a...*mumbles* 9. They're actually xjj2 servers I'm pretty sure, either that or SW. I think it's xjj2 though. 10. WAKEMAN AGAIN HAHAHAHA Guh, I lost.

1. I really don't know. But I've heard of a Blade type gun and a fireball (like JJ1 toaster) type gun.
2. (EDIT, I rechecked my research) Battery Check 3. Jazz 1 (3D bonus levels, unless you mean hardware 3D effects) 4. Slayer? 5. Don't know. 6. A vertical sucker tube with a slow speed up (there are actually many different events that would work, but this would have the least visual impact) 7. (EDIT) Getting over the maximum (99 in SP, 50 in MP) number of ammo by shooting powerups. 8. A trojan. 9. They are early JJ2 version (1.20 maybe), and are impossible to join because they are the wrong version number. 10. (EDIT) Dino

1. MCEs...one looks like a bouncer flying straight, the other one like a little fireball.
2. *** was the name again...I just think to know it was some astronaut game. 3. If the question is posed like that, it must be JJ1 ![]() 4. Bjarni. 5. Arjan? I have no idea, I didn't even know J2C (joined the communit too late)... 6. A slow sucker tube. 7. In prior versions, you were able to take up ammo when you have been at 50 already. Your amount did not go higher than 50 though. 8. Worm? 9. Eum....perhaps timed out servers? 10. Wakeman (I guess).

1. SCE's: The two uhm.. firebullet guns (Overlords site) and probably the mythical Blade gun.
2. Battery Check 3. Probably JJ1, or you wouldn't ask this. 4. Probably Bjarni Cool ![]() 5. CliffyB? I think. The most funny one ![]() 6. I'm not sure what you mean. Can't you be a little more clearly? I don't know in what order the events should be. If I understood it well, it's probably an event that slows down your movement, like a suckertube. 7. Getting more ammo than 50 (Checked, not copied) 8. An annoying program that annoys you. 9. Servers with a uhm... weird version number 10. No idea. Wakeman? No, that's a staff member. Newspaz? |

About two more responses and I think I will start round two. The current standings are.
1st Place: A tie between Flash and Unknown Rabbit, with 5 of 10. 3rd Place: Link, with 4.5 of 10. 4th Place: Spaztic, with 3.5 of 10. 5th Place: Newspaz, with 3 of 10. 6th Place: A tie between AJ2F and Unhit, with 2.5 of 10. 8th Place: MR. MAGOO, with 2 of 10. Maybe some of these are too hard. Number 6 was unclear, and the answer was not sucker tube, but I'll give half points for that since it was so unclear. Only one of the questions has never been answered correctly so far. The next batch will be somewhat easier.

Some clarification please:
a) There was actually more than one quiz on J2S. Do you mean the one in July 1999 or the one in August 1998? b) I tried the setup in question 6, and unfortunately nothing extraordinary happened. I only went up about 2 tiles above the one ways (as expected). Maybe do some ASCII art or a screenshot of the exact setup.

That is still kind of unclear. 2 or 3 (when only 1 layer of one-ways is used) tiles up is within jumping distance and it wouldn't make sense for a secret to be there. Are you sure you have the question right? Or are you referring to some bug
(Note: I edited my responses after rethinking some of them)

I wanted to make a situation in which it would be used. The point is to make the player not shoot out of the one ways as fast.

That's unfair. When _I_ answered the last question, it (the post) said the quiz was on J2C. I knew who won the J2S ones, but nothing about a nonexistant quiz.

OK. Fine. Here are less crippled questions, Newspaz.
1. What Jazz clothing peice is colored incorrectly in the cinematic Jazz 2 scene? 2. Which Epic levels contain the blaster powerup? 3. What negative thing can happen if you attempt to use AntiCrash while connecting to a server? (Not just "JJ2 crashes" or "AntiCrash crashes" or "an error message pops up" - be more specific) 4. How does the JAIL concept work? What does it do? 5. What was the purpose of The Moving Bot? (Not moving topics, there was a reason why The Moving Bot was there, and it related to causing less confusion about topic moves.) 6. What tileset did J2C proclaim the "best usermade tileset ever" when it was released? 7. What was the original name, both abbreviation and full name, of JCS? 8. Who created the Jazz 2 levels? 9. Which two people that appear in the Jazz 2 default high score list have signed up for the JCF? List both their names as they appear in the high scores and their JCF usernames. 10. Why was JazzNET cancelled?

1. The armsling. In the intro, it is red, it usually is orange though.
2. The first Diamondus level and battle 1. Both pups do not respawn. 3. Error during handshaking? 4. There are two teams, and the one wins that makes it to catch the whole enemy team in a box in their base. A team can free mates by freezing the spring that prevents people from escaping. Due to the spring, the sucker tube and the only one tile high corridor to escape. the freezing is absolutely required. 5. Absolutely no idea. 6. Back to J2C days...I did not play JJ2 online back then, so I have to guess. It probably is 7th Lava Fall. 7. No idea. 8. John McLellan. 9. CliffyB (Cliffy in the highscore) and...dunno. I guess on Jeh. 10. I don't even know what that is respectively was ![]()

2. A Diamondus Forever and Battle 1 3. Jazz crashes. 4. Don't know. 5. To notify people that the topic had been moved. 6. Don't know. 7. MLLE (Multi-Layer Level Editor) 8. Jon MacLellan, Cliff Bleszinski 9. "Dean" and "Cliffy" in high scores, "Noogy" and "CliffyB" on JCF. 10. Onag accidentally deleted the files.

1. What Jazz clothing peice is colored incorrectly in the cinematic Jazz 2 scene?
Which cinematic Jazz 2 scene? ![]() 2. Which Epic levels contain the blaster powerup? A Diamondus Forever and Battle Game (battle1.j2l, for clarification) 3. What negative thing can happen if you attempt to use AntiCrash while connecting to a server? AntiCrash crashes. 4. How does the JAIL concept work? What does it do? The JAIL concept is actually team triggers. You may be thinking of the JAIL2 concept, but that's not what the question says. It works by having Multiplayer Team Start Positions, one for each team, and no other ones. Each team gets a trigger zone only that team gets (E.G. Red gets TriggerID 1 and Blue gets TriggerID 2), and some walls and things are open for Blue, and some for Red. 5. What was the purpose of The Moving Bot? (Not moving topics, there was a reason why The Moving Bot was there, and it related to causing less confusion about topic moves.) Giving a link to where the topic had been moved to? 6. What tileset did J2C proclaim the "best usermade tileset ever" when it was released? Both the Cyberspaz tilesets.. 7. What was the original name, both abbreviation and full name, of JCS? MLLE? Multi-Layer Level Editor? Or was that from Possum? I forgot. 8. Who created the Jazz 2 levels? Cliffy Belinski (CliffyB) did most of them, but Jon Maclellan (Jeh/Evil Bill) did some of them, like Gargoyle's Lair. (He also made the levels for HH98 and TSF) 9. Which two people that appear in the Jazz 2 default high score list have signed up for the JCF? List both their names as they appear in the high scores and their JCF usernames. CliffyB, CliffyB, Jon, Jeh? 10. Why was JazzNET cancelled? A hardware problem caused all the files to be lost. |

Here are the scores so far:
1. Unknown Rabbit and defalcon with 8/10 3. Link with 6/10 4. Spaztic with 2/10 5. Unhit with 1.5/10 6. Blackraptor and Agent Megumi (VelKasha) with 0/10 A clarification: there are actually 3 users listed in the high score list that have signed up on the JCF. Pick any two.

1. What Jazz clothing peice is colored incorrectly in the cinematic Jazz 2 scene?
Wristbands 2. Which Epic levels contain the blaster powerup? umm.... 3. What negative thing can happen if you attempt to use AntiCrash while connecting to a server? (Not just "JJ2 crashes" or "AntiCrash crashes" or "an error message pops up" - be more specific) no clue 4. How does the JAIL concept work? What does it do? Spring keeps everyone in the jail until someone outside uses ice to freeze it. It is used in Jail-break, a game involving two teams attempting to kill all the rabbits on the other team to trap them in their jail. 5. What was the purpose of The Moving Bot? (Not moving topics, there was a reason why The Moving Bot was there, and it related to causing less confusion about topic moves.) The moving bot notified people that it was moved, and sometimes why. People would also see that the last post was from the Moving Bot (When in the original forum of the post). 6. What tileset did J2C proclaim the "best usermade tileset ever" when it was released? I'd have to say MEZ01, released in 1998 7. What was the original name, both abbreviation and full name, of JCS? MLLE - Multi Layer Level Editor (Woohoo! I actually know one!) 8. Who created the Jazz 2 levels? Cliff B. (Except for Garg Lair.) 9. Which two people that appear in the Jazz 2 default high score list have signed up for the JCF? List both their names as they appear in the high scores and their JCF usernames. Cliff Bleszinski - CliffyB, and Dean Dodrill - Noogy 10. Why was JazzNET cancelled? Too much work BTW, if I had known that the quiz was on J2S, I wouldn't have guessed as I did. Can I change it to Dethman?

Alright, after round two, the standings:
Overall

Unknown Rabbit (13)
Link (10.5)
Another Jazz 2 Fan (9)
defalcon (8)
Spaztic (5.5)
Enigma (5.5)
Tie - Fl@sh (5)
Unhit (4)
Newspaz (3.5)
MR. MAGOO (2)
JJ Tublear (1)
Agent Megumi (0)
Tie - Blackraptor (0)
Those Who Took Both Quizzes

Unknown Rabbit (13)
Link (10.5)
Another Jazz 2 Fan (9)
Spaztic (5.5)
Those Who Took Only One Quiz

defalcon (8)
Enigma (5)
Tie - Fl@sh (5)
Unhit (4)
Newspaz (3.5)
MR. MAGOO (2)
JJ Tublear (1)
Agent Megumi (0)
Tie - Blackraptor (0)
The answers 1. What Jazz clothing peice is colored incorrectly in the cinematic Jazz 2 scene? The wristband. 2. Which Epic levels contain the blaster powerup? This was the question no one got correct. While many of you did catch that there was a blaster powerup in A Diamondus Forever and Battle1, no one remembered Battlea. 3. What negative thing can happen if you attempt to use AntiCrash while connecting to a server? (Not just "JJ2 crashes" or "AntiCrash crashes" or "an error message pops up" - be more specific) I was surprised no one got this correct. A No Start Position Found error can occur. 4. How does the JAIL concept work? What does it do? A lot of people explained how the gametype works on this question. Actually, it uses a system of triggers to make someone appear in a different area when they die than when they join. 5. What was the purpose of The Moving Bot? (Not moving topics, there was a reason why The Moving Bot was there, and it related to causing less confusion about topic moves.) Despite my notating it, a few people apparently ignored the "don't just say moving topics" part of the question. The purpose of it was to inform people that the topic had been moved, not just closed. 6. What tileset did J2C proclaim the "best usermade tileset ever" when it was released? The original answer was Mez01, but looking back at the archives I see Cyberspaz was also hailed. 7. What was the original name, both abbreviation and full name, of JCS? MLLE, or Multi-Layer Level Editor. 8. Who created the Jazz 2 levels? Jeh and CliffyB. I also accepted John McLellan, Jeh's real name. 9. Which two people that appear in the Jazz 2 default high score list have signed up for the JCF? List both their names as they appear in the high scores and their JCF usernames. There are actually three: Cliffy, CliffyB; Dean, Noogy; and EvilBill, Jeh. Any two of those were fine. 10. Why was JazzNET cancelled? Onag accidentally deleted the JazzNET files.

1. Shortly before Jazz 2's release, the Jazz 2 team claimed that there would be 12 guns. Assuming they were not counting shields, what are two of the other three guns that are in the game but can not be fired? (Hint: They do not have their own event in JCS and do not come from enemies. You also do not see them in most levels and they are not used in any of the official levels.) I was lenient with this question. Most of the answers I accepted related to the two MCE's viewable in TSF. 2. What was the first game to be released using the Jazz 2 engine? Battery Check 3. Which game, Jazz 1 or Jazz 2, uses more 3D hardware effects with ambient lighting turned off? I was going for neither, but Jazz 1's bonus levels do use 3D effects, so bah. 4. Which JCF user has the most warnings? Blizzard 5. Early in Jazz 2's existance, Jazz2City was looking for photos of what Jazz 2 team member? Cliffy B 6. Either float up or sucker tube. 7. What bug related to ammo amount did the 1.23 patch fix in multiplayer but not in single player? Getting over the max amount of ammo from a powerup. 8. The "TSF Virus" was, in fact, not a virus. What was it actually classified as? Trojan horse 9. What are the servers with the name "Unknown" on the server list actually and why are they impossible to join? They are shareware servers. 10. A Jazz quiz on Jazz2Stuff (news on it was posted on Jazz2City) was created way back in 1998 and many people took it. Who got the highest score? Dino
