CTO (No Router)

Someone I know who got jazz2 gets a connection time out error everytime he tries to connect to my server (havent tried with other servers yet) and his server always pings. He has no router, he has windows XP and firewall turned off, noone else seems to have this problem connecting to my server..

Can your friend post here instead? It is always more helpful to have the actual person with the problem posting.

There are four possibilities:

a) He has another software firewall (like ZoneAlarm) running.
b) His ISP blocks direct connections of sorts (unlikely).
c) He may not have a router, but if he has a home network it is likely that he has some form of network address translation (NAT) on his network, like the various internet connection sharing programs.
d) The CTOs are not chronic and happened simply because of a bad connection.

Please get him to post here with more information (like network configuration).
