If you look really closely at the Devan Shell sprite, you will see that it appears to be missing a frame around when he lands from a jump. Under normal circumstances, you can barely notice it, and if you paused the game to take a look, you would see nothing.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or an easter egg, but for some reason a totally unrelated frame is spliced into that spot. In some tilesets (they seem to be ones with modified palletes), instead of getting a blank frame, you get this message.



This image is not edited. That message is not part of the tileset.

I was looking around the credits of jj2 and found the name Chris Hargett who is/was the webmaster at epic.

That font is also used in Colonius for the text "dizz sux". (Not sure why I said that, but I found it a bit more interesting then saying "oh, cool")

It's actually kind of sad. They have only 256 warps (ok, I don't know if anyone has actually run out, but potentially you can), 32 triggers, 1020 tile tilesets, 64 frame animations and 1 second minimum speed, but they can waste event frames like crazy.

That other tileset is "The Void" by Bean, created for a small level called "The Void" where gems and stuff would fall down on a platform.

Something that's actually related to this topic: You think the creators of the game (and therefore the splicers of that completely non-related sprite) were trying to use semi-l33t in the sprite, or does the word redneq actually have a significance?

Odd. The first time I noticed this was on the level Mike posted. I was firing like mad at Devan, and when he landed I noticed in that single frame. Chris is a redneq, after about 20 seconds of trying to pause it on the right frame, I did.
