Questions...
Ok, sit back and relax cuz I got a lot to say. We're approaching year 5 of this great underated, amazing game. I wonder everyday who owns the list server and what would happen if it were to go down. I remember back when there were as much as 3 pages of servers in year 1. Then when the list server whent down, the world came tumbling down. It only lasted around 2 weeks or so, but we came back to our game to find that 80% of the community just vanished, and hardly any came back.
We survived this ordeal though, with the help of Jazz 2 City. Even then that only lasted so long because suddenly it lost funds I guess and we were left with jazz 2 universe. Well that didn't last long as it required a lot of maintenence. At this point when Jazz 2 Universe whent down, I left the community, thinking that there was no hope in this dieing game. But when my friend found jazz 2 online, I bounced back to check it out. Lo and behold, Jazz wasn't dead as I had expected. And so to this day, the game is kind of on a life support system. Now, onto the point of this topic. What would happen if slowly everybody lost intrest in this game? What if the list server goes down again? Would we lose 20%?50? What if they we couldn't get another list server? Is jazz one of the last few games in which people aren't running around slicing each other in half, with blood splattered walls and carnage all around? Is this truly one of this last kid friendly games in which teenagers and adults also enjoy? I personaly can't imagine a world without our little green rabbit. If this game were to fall, I wouldn't have much left to do in my life. No level making. No tileset making. Nothing. I now wonder if jazz was doomed to fail, aside from it being one of the best, if not the best, game of all time IMO. If jazz 2 were to fall, the last of the classic seris would die. I also wonder who would ever make a great side scroller platformer as customizable as the great green rabbit. |

Very well said, Infinite.
Personally, I do not think Jazz will ever get boring for me. I took a break from the game mainly because of computer problems and then I sort of left it out of my life for a while. Now that I am back, though, I'm hooked and proud of it - the best (and only) thing I've ever been addicted to by far. ;-P It may be different for others, but Jazz will always be my game. |

If the list server goes down, I wouldnt cry probably. Having faced 3 months without being able to host or join, true i miised playing online, but I still played the game. If J2O would go down, now that may be a different story.

I guess if it would die, i'd go play other games some more, but it would never be quite the same. The thing that makes jj2 so special to me is that so few people play it, which makes the community like one of those tiny villages where everyone knows everyone. This creates a very pleasant atmosphere you'd never find in those millions-of-players-games like Warcraft or Counterstrike. Other than that, i like the cartoon style jj2 uses. Now that all game companies seem to be bent on making their games as realistic as possible, i wouldn't like gaming very much if i couldn't get back to an imaginary, completely flat 2D game every once in a while. JJ2 is nearly the only game that 1) fits this description and 2) can be played online with other people. So, my answer to your poll would be: no, it'll never get boring. If it does, it's only temporary.

For me, JJ2 is not boring and probably will never get. I though play quite seldomly. Mostly due to other games, like especially WarCraft. But when I am really in a bad mood and don't know what to do, Jazz is always the right game to cheer me up. Especially the levelmaking makes this: you are in a completely new "world" every day.
Also, if you talk about JJ2, you have to talk about the community here imo. In a game with such a small, yet great community where everyone knows everyone, the fun the game is depends a lot on what's up in the community. As long as we get along well here on J2O, the JCF and all other JJ2 fansites, we will have fun playing the game I believe. And even if it is only a duel or team game, mostyl in private servers, as it is for me usually (as long as there is no JDC ![]() I believe that the fun we have with playing JJ2 comes and goes with this community. And as long as the community stays, we will have fun playing Jazz.

It isn't boring at the moment. There were periods (for me, heh) when I found JJ2 too boring and started playing other games. However, the community is still alive and that means Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is also still alive, so I can "return" when I'm interested again. And it's a nice community, so the game is also nice. I simply see no way to seperate the community and the game, and since I like this community, I like JJ2. And because I like JJ2, I'm in the community. So actually the game holds itself alive, at least for me and it will never get boring forever. Only for short periods of time when I want something else for a change. Did I say "comminty" five times in this post? |

I remember the list server crashing, thats when i left.
![]() Anyway, I think that its great that we have such a small community, just the right size. Jazz will most likely eventually die out, whether it be a game just like it but better, or no more list servers. The fully customizable environment , from tileset editing and level making, really made this game special, and kept it alive, along with great sites like J2O, which brings in new people, and keeps old players coming back to play more. If the error went away and i would'nt drop, i would say no, this game would never get boring.

I'm not playing it at the moment, but, hey,I've had this game for YEARS,5,I think, and I played it til some time ago...^^
Of course, there are times you don't like to play JJ2 anymore. That's just normal. Like when you eat too much candy, you're getting sick of it,but as soon as you didn't have any for some time, you eat it again! ![]() JJ2 is just like that, always good for inbetween and you can never really stop once you're in! ![]()

Its getting boring now...
Let's just say i'm getting really {........} that everyone is leaving JCF. And anyway nobody cares for test anymore, and that's annoying. And not only that but too many CTF servers, not enough battle. Race is dead, treasure hunt is very much dead. CO-OP is permanently dead.

The thing about CTF servers is true, i dont know why myself, but most people like CTF better because of the more strategy involved with it. There is still battle. Race isnt dead (much) some people still play it at home and stuff. Treasure is probably dead. Coop is still alive, many people (I think) play it at home and there are lots of people making coop levels. errr.........wait, thats single player ![]() Anyways, its not boring yet.

You say people like CTF cause of strategy, I laugh cause the original game mode of course SP, is nothing but brainless shooting. Oh well.

LOL, I said JCF, Cracco? I meant to say JJ2 lol. And people like tests in TSF more than people on JJ2? Really, funny you say that I NEVER saw anyone.

As long as there is a community, it is my opinion that Jazz as a whole won't die. We've had slow times before, but if we keep at it we'll start up again. Oh sure, nothing like the first year, but we'll make it. For the past two years I'd say the overall community has been fairly steady.

And if Battle becomes more popular than CTF then maybe i'll say JJ2 isn't dying.
