(sigh) error connecting to list servers...

I looked at the FAQ. I know I'm using Jazz Jackrabbit 1.23. I just used the list server patch. The FAQ doesn't tell me anything else I can do, besides check the list servers. And I did chack and they were up.

I have no idea why it keeps happening.

I have a DSL connection.
I have a router, and a home network.
I possibly have a firewall.
I'm not sure about my ports being open or closed. I don't know how to open or close them.

Actually, I fixed the problem. However, a new problem arised itself.

I joined the server Cheese Toast Inc.

Trafton greeted me. I acknowledged the greeting.

However, something strange was going on. I found Trafton. He was bouncing up and down on a spring, not doing anything. I asked him what he was doing. He didn't reply. Then I saw another player. He was standing still like a piece of eyecandy.

Possibly the problem is I'm not recieving the other player's commands. I'm not sure. But it is one strange problem, and I don't know what the cause is.

If that problem is non-consistent, I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, the error about not recieving the other people's moves has gone away. However, the error that has been with me from the start has returned.

My connection times out about 30 seconds after I join a game.

My network stats:
I have DSL.
I have a router.
I have a home network.
I have Windows 2000.
I possibly have a firewall besides the one built into Windows 2000.

I have read tips about "opening ports" or "forwarding", but I have no idea how to do that.

Routers are all different, so you will have to read the documentation for your specific router to find out how to forward ports.

Same situation with firewalls; you'll need to read the specific firewall documentation.

Install the list servers patch somewhere on J2O.
