What Would You Rate the Default JJ2 Levels?
I know this topic has been brought up before, but I find it an interesting one. What would you rate the levels that come with JJ2?
For me, it would be: Battle1 - 8.2 (Good design and layout.) Battle2 - 7.2 (Too small, springs annoy me, some odd ammo placement.) Battle3 - 7.0 (Not that good, horrible ammo placement.) Capture1 - 6.7 (Shield, bad layout.) Capture2 - 7.2 (Okay layout.) Capture3 - 8.0 (Good layout, weird flow.) Capture4 - 7.5 (Good layout, odd flow.) Treasure1 - 7.5 (Okay layout, good gem placement) Treasure2 - 7.2 (Odd but good gem placement) Treasure3 - 7.5 (Good gem placement)

Capture levels: N/A, though the carrot one is nice. Er did I say carrot? I meant Ice. You know? Looks like someone put out your facefire with an icepick when you were young! Hur hur hur.

I would rate the default single player levels an 8 overall. You could say they are to easy. But people don't keep in mind that the levels originally were designed for 320x200. And it would have meant so much work and time would have been lost if they'd all had to be changed.

In my opnion, all of the multiplayer default levels are 5.0 - 6.7. They have average to below average eyecandy. Most of them have horrible layouts except B1 which I believe is the only good battle level in existance. I disagree on DW having a nice layout since it's mostly made up of platforms, however the box adds all the good to this level.

I'd probably rate Battle1 lower than it deserves to be because I'm sick and tired of wandering unassumingly into a random server and being confronted by a bunch of n00bs who can't speak english (I'm not associating n00bism with the inability to speak english, as there are many good players who don't speak english... it just so happens that i have a tendency to walk into those fraggin' n00bs' traps that resemble normal servers...

Battle1 - 8.5. Despite it being overused, I find Battle1 to be a good level. It has that nice passages feel which is missing from so many platform levels.
ABattle1 (1.23) - 7.5. Some of the edits translate into major flaws. ABattle1 (1.24) - N/A (I haven't played this one enough) Battle2 - 7.7. I like this level. However, there are not quite enough routes. Battle3 - 6.7. This level has practically no layout, flow, design or gameplay. Fortunately, the ammo placement's ok. Capture1 - N/A (Not sure what Capture1 is) Capture2 - N/A (Not sure what Capture2 is) Capture3 - 7.0. It's an ok level, but it's heavily unoriginal, and the design needs some work. Capture4 - N/A (Not sure what Capture4 is) Treasure1 - 8.7. This is possibly my favorite Treasure Hunt level. Everything about it is great. Treasure2 - 7.7. Pretty well done, and the airboards are fun, but there's not enough incentive to stick around. Treasure3 - 6.7. Way too boring for my tastes. Race1 - 7.2. I'm not too much of a fan of countdown blocks, and while I'll admit the floatup area is well done, the rest is a bit boring. Race2 - 5.5. Not much to say about this one. Race3 - 6.2 It's ok, but nothing very special. I have some nice memories here of not knowing how to run, though. |

DW is ok, though I dont like it much. I'd rate it 7.7
The single player levels I'd rate 8.7, I dont care if they are easy because back then when we got jj2 im sure they werent that easy for us. And the design is good. Battle1 I'd rate around 8. Im not sure about the rest of the levels.

![]() ![]() ![]() 10.7!!!! I love that level and its cheesiness, FEAR THE LEVEL AND ITS CHEESINESS!!!! Oh and for the record, that is also Martin's favourite level, BOW DOWN TO CAPTURE 4!!!! This proves that traftie is biased, he rates Capture1 as bad because it has a shield, yet Capture 3 and 4 also have a shield each, and in both of those levels it's actually easier to get the shield than the seeker powerup

Looks like Kejero surpassed the Jazz 2 level makers
(Not the other people the one that made Jazz2)

Battle 1: 7.5: Not too bad, but too linear in parts and of course there's the infamous water shield.
Battle 2: 7.5: Layout isn't bad, bit small though. Battle 3: 5.5: No sense of direction whatsoever. Capture 1: Eh...I dunno. Capture 2: Ditto. Capture 3: 7.5: Not bad, it's your basic CTF level, nothing innovative.
