The IP of anyone who hosts a server can be found using Xjj2 or a similar program.

ya but list servers are down it is like a IP shopping spree!

I don't think that someone can hack you by getting your server IP, since it usually isn't the internal one or stuff.

go to my server lsit thingy here on the forums...it even has a link that tells u your IP :P

Just stick to Magoo's thread, any1 can get your IP even if the listservers are up.

It also allows for joining servers, and shows the IP then.

The reality of the matter is that even if you absolutely infuriate someone it is unlikely they will hack you; not that this means you should. Besides, getting your IP is not enough to hack someone. If it was, the world would be in a lot more trouble. As long as you do not accept suspicious files, it should be fine.

There is about equal chance of getting hacked when the list server is down as when it is not. If someone is going to hack you, they are dedicated to doing so and will find out your IP, whether they use XJJ2 or not. My point is, not posting your IP here will not do much more harm as the chance of a random hacking is low.

Besides, if you have updated patches and a good antivirus program and/or firewall, it is even less likely. No need to worry about it.

True. That's one of the few good things about a router: the built-in firewall kicks out hackers before they even reach the computers on the network.

You must want us to join our own empty LAN servers, if any.

Go to your router page by typing in the gateway (can be found with winipcfg on 9x kernel, ipconfig at the command prompt otherwise) and figure out what your default gateway is (probably 192.168.1.1). Then go to the router's page (you may need a username and/or password) and figure out your WAN address there in whatever section it may be in (it depends on the router). What you provided was your LAN address.
