			Hello,

Since yesterday I'm working on my next project, I readed a lot times that the levels of my server (The Server) are too bad, so I got the idea to make my Server "open" (at first hosting a new one on an other port). This means for you: - You can Upload your own (first only battle) levels, tilesets and music - Every User can regist him/herself in the tool, so that all know who uploaded which level - Users can't delete Levels directly, it will be working with rating (1-10), if that rating of a level is going under 5.5 the Level get deleted I have about 40% finished (the client is nearly completly finished, for the serverside tool i need a bit more time) My Question is, what do you think about this project and have you any ideas to improve it? Before I forget, here is a screenshoot of the client (this should make more clear if you still dont know what I'm talking about): ![]() (The Battle1 and 2 List entrys are fakes atm )Edit (08.03.2011): A new Screenshoot (uploading a level; still not completly finished but some parts are working ):![]() Sfaizst

The idea seems pretty cool. I imagine getting the voting/uploading to be balanced will be the hardest part. For example, you'll probably need a minimum number of votes before a level can be deleted, and prevent people from uploading their level again under a different name if it gets voted out. Good luck.

I thinked about this and there will be a crc check for the level...

and I will have an admin tool for manageing users and uploads, i think the official countable rating will start when 50% of the registred users made a vote (for the start i set a minimum of 5 palyers as example)

It might be unnecessary to have ratings on a scale from 1-10. Most people will either like a level, dislike a level, or just don't care about it - so a scale from 1 to 3 (or -1 to 1) might work better. Same reason why YouTube ditched the 5 star ratings and went with making it binary.

			Sorry for the doublepost

but today i made a big step in the project, I finished the Serverside part (i hope all is working, i cant test all atm), now a client can choose between like/dislikesome points i changed: - the global rating get updated every 2 hours - before a level can get deleted a minimum of 15 Levels must be uploaded - a level only can get deleted, when there are 7 votes or more - if you select "No Rating" you delete your rating if you made one here a new Screenshoot, the List entrys are real ones now :![]() If a betatester is interested in testing the program just contact me with pm, I'm sure i can finish soon a beta version of my tool that can be tested...
