10.02pm - New Contest (Posted by Violet CLM)
Okay, so nothing's been announced for a long time (though there are some snazzy articles that should be coming your way in the next month or two), but to remedy that, Cooba has initiated the JCS Collaboration Contest over at the JCF:
That's right, a contest not made for individual level designers. There hasn't been exactly a flood of collaboratively made levels (I recall seeing as many as two, at all), which is a pity because collabs sound like a bucket of fun to make, and they're interesting from an analyser point of view, too. Plus, more collabs in general is always a nice thing.
There are a lot more details, all of which can be found in the opening post in the linked-to thread. Basically you have until December 30th, must work with a partner, and make a changelog so Cooba can know that you've been properly collaborating. Go to it!

9.28pm - update (Posted by Violet CLM)
Here's an article called Tile Cache which renders last year's Trigger Scenery in Background Layers obsolete. Thanks to BlurredD and Neobeo for their work on identifying the cache structure.

1.53am - Links update (Posted by Violet CLM)
I removed the Daily Carrot from the links section, as it hasn't existed for about a year. I also added Jazz Center and Jazz 2 Online due to their collections of JCS articles. Check them out!
(Mike's "Triggers" article has also been fixed so the image points to the right URL, as it had not been converted to /J2Ov2/ before.)

8.57pm - Update, staff, contests. (Posted by Violet CLM)
Hello, everyone! I'm Violet CLM and I'm the latest JCSref admin.
So far, two more articles have been added to the site, both from J2O. Hopefully there'll be something new and exclusive soon.
Finally, if any of you like making CTF or Assault levels, those links point to a couple of level making contests you might be interested in. The CTF deadline is coming up pretty soon, and the Assault ends sometime after it gets five entries, and has a monetary reward. Have fun!

I updated a few links and image codes in articles because they didn't work since the URL changed.
BTW, does anyone have a problem with JCS? A new subject for an article would be nice :P

3.09pm - Informative? (Posted by Toxic Bunny)
I've made a new tutorial. The title may suggest it is only useful for 3D objects, but it should be useful for other situations too.
I hope all the UK jazzers enjoyed Red Nose Day, and gave plenty of money to Comic Relief.

3.12pm - New articles! (Posted by Flash)
FQuist forced me to post this
I wrote a tutorial about "cool layer tricks". I recommend you to read it if you have problems with using layers for more advanced things than just mountains on the background, for example.
Toxic Bunny wrote a very interesting article about the speed of "bouncy" events like springs.

2.37pm - The secret to comedy... (Posted by Toxic Bunny)
...is timing.
I strongly suspect that FQuist left me out of the last news post because my tutorial was posted afterwards.
As I am unable to tell you about that Gradients tutorial, I'll have to tell you about Creating the Palette.
And don't worry, I won't be resting on my laurels. I don't even have any laurels. And note that this is a new piece of news with news on the news.

5.39pm - Five Six new tutorials (Posted by FQuist, edited by Electric)
We're fast. Six new tutorials have been added since the last newspost with a tutorial list yesterday.

EvilMike has put his triggers tutorial on JCSref. Flash has made a list of JCS hotkeys. Electric has made a document about buttstomp scenery and a tutorial about Background Music, Toxic added one about Gradients and I have added info on text in JCS. Have fun!

(Edited by Electric - FQuist, meanie.. You kept Toxic Bunny out ;-)

I'm not too sure about my nick, so I will not bother you with such trivia. And it's up there, anyway.

I'll cough up a few usefel nuggets of information soon (don't you just love the imagery?), and they will be added to this growing encyclopedia of sought-after knowledge.

1.11am - Hail me (Posted by FQuist)
I got jcs.ref to work again. It should actually be recoded as all the code is quite buggy and old but I really do not feel like doing that right now. I prefer working on Jazz2online V2.

Well, I did get this site to work, that doesn't mean that most of the functions work. To navigate click on the topics or index tabs on the left.
