I’m completely bored right now so I think I’ll write a random review.

What this is
This is supposed to be Gerudo Valley tileset and when i first saw the name, I thought this was going to be sort of rip from the game. I was dead wrong. This is a cheep MS paint job that you can barley call a tileset. Still, could be much worst.
What this contains
Ok where to begin. To start off there is an animated periscope at the top of the tileset. It looks bad as there’s no shading on them. Next there’s an animated text sign that has THE LONGEST animation sequence I’ve ever seen in a tileset. It takes up almost 6 rows! There’s no need. then there’s some ground or sand but there’s no shading making it look bad. Then there’s a sun and clouds for some eyecandey. There’s some diamond things and poles I think. Mountains that look the same as the ground. then there’s some bricks and a bunch of letters. A background that completely sucks and if it worked as a textured background I would piss myself. then there’s some stuff about the author and that’s it. There’s also some grass. The tiles don’t look that good but at least there are some basics in there.

It’s more of a factor of would you even us it. If you do, your choices are very limited and nothing that good can come out of it. Even the example level can’t make this tileset look good.

DR? Normally I would say to keep trying but since this was uploaded in 2002, (I’m writing this this in 2009) I can say this tileset is really bad and I couldn’t say yes to download. Download if you want to see the longest text animation you’ve ever seen, but other then that, no.

Its very heated to make a level with this, there is no background….

I’m not sure if these are exactly “puzzle tests” in that there isn’t much puzzle to it. It’s mainly simple avoid-the-blocks tests. The copter tests are buggy and can often be cumbersome, mostly due to the fact copters are buggy and can often be cumbersome, and really detract from the overall quality of this level. The challenge of this level is sort of unbalanced. Some earlier levels are harder than ones later in the level. I’ve never been a huge fan of tests, and this below average test is no exception. No download recommendation from me.

Anyway, this is a barely above average level. Not really worth a download.

The start is anoyying that you get warped to the rulez

btw you should include Morph by the testz
and when you join as spaz you cant even do the Copter Testz include morphs

Yeah, I can see that. Word of advice: You don’t have to use a cheap PSP texture to give tiles textures. Just a few pixels of different colors still looks a lot better then.. this. Whatever it is.

The tileset consists of an animated text sign that takes up about a quarter of the tileset, a yellow circle (sun), five or so small clouds, a green periscope, some single-color ground tiles, with addable grass, some brown bricks (with transparent cement or whatever), some purple destruct etc blocks, some single color background mountains, a bunch of letters, two things using the author’s name, and the most unlikely to work working textured background I’ve ever seen.
If that didn’t put you off enough, the whole thing’s on automask. And most of the black was 0,0,0, so it became transparent.

Newbie thinks tileset sucks! But he rates it good anyway, because Newbie is feeling kind today!

Oh well, nm. Let’s get on with the review.

Southern Swamp bu BunnyElmer is a CTF lvl of medium size using the amazing tileset Swamp’s of the Sleeping Jaguar by Agama. Because Elmer chose this tileset, I was expecting lots of great eyecandy and some nice ideas.

However, I was vrey dissapointed when I found out that the “nice ideas” were just a whole truckload of platforms placed in a otherwise empty space. Also, the “great eyecandy” was non-existent.

Yes, Southern Swamp has good weapons placement with ammo placed sensibly around the lvl and there are some nice carrot positions too. But the trouble is, that’s all. The eyecandy is very, very bad. There are a couple jaguars, bushes, water pools and tree trunks but that’s all. The foreground layers consist of only boring rain and the whole lvl has too much emptiness in it. That makes the lvl look rather boring and dull.

The gameplay is also bad although it’s all right in some places. The best part of the gameplay is the placement of springs, I think although the rest falls below the average standard I expect of lvl’s. First of all, there are three dead ends in the lvl. One at the blue base, one at the red base and one at the bottom-left corner of the lvl. They are unbelievable annoying…
Secondly, Southern Swamp is too Jazz-unfriendly. Spaz can double-jump up with platforms while Jazz has to use springs which is slower. The seeker powerup can only be reached by double-jumping too so Jazz has to shoot the powerup with bouncers and only get 20 bullets out if it. Not good, not good…

I opened the lvl with hopes of a high quality lvl and closed it with a bad rating in mind. Sry, Elmer, but this only get an 5.5 from me. Try harder nxt time and make yours lvls more Jazz friendly, with less dead ends and more eyecandy. No download recommendation.

BunnyElmer is my friend. It’s only fair if I give him friendship.

I always like to see a good Battle1 ripoff. However, this one was badly done. In example, all the vines are gone which makes the level play very bad using Jazz, the tileset is used wrong, and ofcourse a ripoff will never score very high in originality.

No recommendation.

And, well, there is no real background, just four colours to choose from.
The graphics of the blocks are good, but its too boring, no eyecandy at all and the letters are just white letters who dont fit with the rest of the tileset.
So, or more eyecandy (but then it would be one of the 100 block tilesets, (100 is 99 too many)) or just choose a real theme, and then one wich hasent been chosen before.
Because, the graphics ARE good, you just need an original idea, I think you could make a (very) decent tileset then.[This review has been edited by Piccolo aka SoulFire]

This tileset, basically, contains of three different colored block strucures – gold, white, and blue. You can make big rectangular blocks (but not L shapes, sadly enough) and horizontal platforms coming out of them.
The tileset is mainly focused upon these horizontal platforms, which not only come in all three colors, can be placed at three different heights in the tile and can change color with relative ease.
There are also some single block tiles in the colors you expect, and four plain colors (good idea to have alternate backgrounds). In addition, there are some letters and stuff, and a thing saying who the tileset is made by, which could use some work.
The tileset is on automask, by the way. Bad idea.
