Update: The deadline for nominations and endorsements has been extended to 07:59 GMT on January 15, 2004.

To celebrate the new year, and as part of a J2O-wide new year's event, the JCF is holding a contest to select the best threads of the year 2004. Members will be able to nominate threads to be included in a poll conducted in mid-January. The results of the poll will determine the winning threads. The main purpose of this is just for fun and is something interesting to do on this sometimes dreary message board, but it will also hopefully recognize excellent threads that can be used as examples for the future.

The nominations for Jazz Jackrabbit related threads will occur in this thread until 23:59 GMT on January 10, 2005. On January 11, 2005 a poll will be created containing all nominated entries. It will run until January 18, 2005. All eligible threads (based on nominations and endorsements) will be included. The top five threads, according to the poll, will be considered the winners. In the event of ties, additional polls will be conducted as necessary.

The rules:

1. Each user may nominate one thread. Post a reply to this thread stating your nomination and include a link to the thread.
2. Each user may endorse one thread that has already been nominated by a different user. Post a reply stating your endorsement. You may include your nomination and endorsement in a single reply.
3. Nominations and endorsements will not be counted until the deadline. This means that you can change your decision until that time.
4. If a person revokes their nomination of the thread you endorse, your endorsement will count as a nomination.
5. Any thread from General Jazz Talk, JCS, Clan Talk, War Tavern, The Future of Jazz, Technical Help, Jazz Jackrabbit Tournaments, and Lori Central is eligible, even if closed, as long as it is related to Jazz Jackrabbit and was created in the year 2004.
6. For a thread to be included in the poll, it must have one nomination and at least one endorsement.
7. Any off-topic posts in this thread will be deleted or edited.

Carefully consider which threads you want to nominate and endorse. More than 900 Jazz Jackrabbit related threads were created in 2004. To help you decide, we have created a list of all Jazz Jackrabbit related threads with more than 25 replies. You are not limited to these threads, but we expect that most threads that could be considered best will be the ones that were more popular. Please do not revive old threads.

Also consider which criteria you are looking for. While all threads are eligible, consider what you really think would be the best thread. Was it interesting? Was it funny? Was it fun? Was it controversial? Was it insightful? Do you really think it deserves the title of best thread of 2004? You decide - but choose intelligently.

I nominate Jazz Jackrabbit 3 and beyond because it's a thread about the future which has actual content, and is one of the more thoughtful threads about Jazz out there (as a whole). We have too little threads that really increase our knowledge. This was one of them. It was in the Future Jazz Talk forum - remember that you may also nominate threads out of forums like that, and the JCS, Technical Help, etc, forums.

Remember to also endorse other threads, people, otherwise they can't be voted for.

Suggestions

I can't nominate these since I already nominated something, so I'm suggesting these threads to people who are looking for good threads, since they are also nice.

I'll abandon my nominated thread and endorse Suggestions for 1.25.

There where so many cool threads and many hot discussions this year...

I nominate the WC2004 thread, because I and others probably got more fun out of it than any other thread, plus it lead to such amazing discoveries as Spotty being transparent and blue. I also endorse the JJ2 FAQ thread because I can and I've seen it linked to a lot.

I endorse the WC2004 thread. It shows how quick planning went for the first NA meeting.
