I don’t have TSF, but I can say for a fact that this level does NOT deserve a 3. I looked at the level file (using the JJ2 previewer). Eye candy is great, and the gameplay looks like it would work.

Yay, 200th review! Anyways, let’s get this review over with…

SONG ANALYSIS:
Firstly, the song is maybe one of the longest songs ever on JJ2…7 minutes 20! That’s quite a long time to sit there and listen. The song is basically the JJ1 songs of the first episode squashed up into one huge song. I was expecting a combination of the three (that would be interesting and origional), but actually, all you hear is the Diamondus theme…with no edit at all. After about 1:30, you hear some shakers…than all the patterns in MPT change to 256 rows (!!). The whole Diamondus theme starts again, but this time, it’s sped up. After 3 minutes, the song suddenly changes to Tubelectric. After you’ve finished listening to that, you then sit through the Medivo song.

I like the idea of having all 3 songs put into 1, but so far, until the new version comes, you have to live with a 7 minute song with nothing interesting changed. I suppose it eliminated having to open all 3 files.

SONG RATING: 3.5

SAMPLES:
Er…the same. We’ll have to wait for the final version.
SAMPLE RATING: N/A

FINAL RATING: 3.5
RANK: 3 Very Bad
DOWNLOAD: Since this is not a full version, i’ll leave it as an N/A, but I wouldn’t sit there for 7 minutes listening to a totally un-remixed, 3 in 1 JJ1 medly that has the same samples. I would wait if there is another version.

Also, I would actually like to see a single song with all the JJ1 elements from different songs. That’s something we’ve never seen before.

I quite like this song but it’s not very accurate in switching from one theme tune to another.

SONG LENGTH: 7:20

At first the song begins playing the JJ1 Diamondus theme normally from 0:00 – 1:25. From 1:26 you will start to hear the Tubelectric background music. At 2:28 the Diamondus theme starts to speed up like when you pick up a “Speed power-up” in JJ1. At 2:58 the song switches over to the JJ1 Tubelectric theme but as I said before it wasn’t very accurate.
The Tubelectric theme then plays on normally. At 5:04 you then start to hear the intro of JJ1 Medivo.
The Medivo song plays the usual way, nothing much has changed here. The Medivo music disappears at 7:13 and then the song slows down at 7:16, then at 7:19 it loops back to the Diamondus tune.

This is my first time reviewing Music so I hope my rating is OK. I’m gonna give this a 6.5 as I like the way you managed to mix the songs together but it’s not very accurate in switching from one tune to another.

SUMMARY

GOOD POINTS

*Great mixing of all the songs from Episode One of JJ1.

BAD POINTS

*Accuracy of changing from one song to another.

RATING: 6.5

RANK: D = OK

DOWNLOAD?

Yes. I think it’s worth a listen. I look forward to hearing what the final version sounds like.

BTW, I tested this both in Winamp and Modplug and they both sound the same.

It’s the same thing!! I can’t believe that someone would loop the remaining 5 seconds three times and call it an “edit”… because that’s what this is.

It’s not a particularily funny song, but I laughed throughout, my hopes of a real remix shattered.

Note that you can’t hear any of the aformentioned “channel switching”.

Don’t get me wrong when I rate this below a six. It was obviously worked on for a while, and at first, I was impressed by the concept of DBZ-related training camp. The ending came a little too soon, however, and the triggers were way off. I didn’t have very much time to read one thing before being thrown somewhere else to read another. It’s impossible to know which boss’ health is indicated on the top, so I guess the entire time all you’re really doing is randomly shooting around.

It was a nice level, but lacked in gameplay. Try to divide your enemies around and separate your level into a few more rooms. And a single boss would do nicely, as well.

Rating Orbilectric:

Plus:
For a Orbitus-level is this a very fit song. While I thought first it is just the orginal Orbitus-song (in that case this worth a 1) I was wrong. When the song plays 1:49, also some instruments from Tubelectric starts playing. Extremely good. This song is also extremely long: 5:23.

Minus:
No wrong things.

Conclusion:
For everyone that want to create an Orbitus-level this is the best choice.
Only one thing, no one song is perfect.
So, this is a 9,9 and absolute a download recommendation.

Mark: 9,9
Download recommendation: YES!
(Unsupported rating removal. How do Tubelectric instruments and a length of 5:23 justify a rating of 9.9? Are Tubelectric instruments an inherently good thing? Why? Is it not an issue that nearly the first two minutes of the song are unedited? ~Violet)

ANSWER:
You have made a mistake. There are really differences at the first two minutes.

*The drums start later and on another order. In real Orbitus-music is that not the case.

*Dude-dude-dude at the begin last longer

*Just before the two minutes hear you also instruments of Tubelectric. In real Orbitus-music is that also not the case

So, there are really differences. I’ve putted back my 9,9.

After taking a peek under the hoods of both files, I’ve come to this single, solitary conclusion:
The only thing that has been changed is certain aspects of Stereo Seperation and the notes of Pattern 7 have been shifted to channels 5 through 8. Also, Pattern 7 has been looped once.

In short, this is not even an edit. Switching channels does next to nothing, especially if you use similar(if not the same) channel panning.

There’s almost NOTHING changed, you have to have OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG cool ears to hear the difference… It’s the same as the original, sorry. The only new thing is Flanger effect used at the end of the song, ehm

To Crimi: Re-arrangation is what we make, which this is not. Really, this is edit, trust him ;)

Introduction:
Can the Bonus Track and Tubelectric from Jazz Jackrabbit co-exist in harmony?! Well, you’re asking in the wrong song. Find out why in this review.

Song Analysis:
The standard Jazz “Bonus” tune with a couple samples from Tubelectric. Nothing new has been added, but parts of the song have been rearranged.

Sample Analysis:
This is JJS. All Jazz Jackrabbit samples…all the time. It seems to be the bread-and-butter of aspiring Jazz musicians. So…no real comments here.

Final Analysis:
Ya can’t blame a guy for trying, I don’t guess. It’s not a bad song by any rights, but it may as well be an original Jazz Jackrabbit MOD file. By copying and pasting Patterns from either song as well as swapping and mixing samples from both, this song was born. And boring. But at least it’s not as bad as some of the things I’ve reviewed. But all and all, it’s nothing special.

Score: 5.0
“Creativity(or Lack There-Of)” Points: -1.5
Total Score: 3.5

Recommendation?:
Sure. Why not? Everyone loves Jazz Jackrabbit‘s original soundtrack.

Well these remixes where kind of hard to make a review about in a way…sort of.

Dreempipe Bonus

beat: it has a steady beat that stays steady, lol.Over all the beat it has is pretty good.

*The music:*pretty good not all that repetative( wich is good).

length: It’s kind of short, just when i thought a new part was coming in the song it abruptly ended.

score:7.0

Tubonus

beat: this one has a beat but it’s not as strong as it probly should be.

the music: sort of repetitive, it reapeats these not so nice sounding sounds.

length: the songs going going BAM! it’s over, i thought the song was going to be longer.

score:4.5

*total score:*5.75 rounded: 6
6= sort of good, i would try again.

What i think need improving: The beat in Tubonus. And the length in all of them, and try to make Tubonus less repetative in some parts (sometimes repeatinging is good, but sometimes it makes it sound worse).

This song is very good. The beats are well done, the music is at a good rythum untill you start repeating. At about 45 secs and on you would every once in awhile get stuck on a certin group of beats and stay on it for way too long. If you shortend the repeations from 5 to 2 or 3 then I think the song would flow alot better, and make it shorter so we can hear all of it’s arwsomeness again.

I’ll be critic today. At least it seems so.

As first point I should mention that the song is really (I mean really) good for a first try but… People mostly don’t listen to the song because it’s authors first one… I’ll review it as normal tune, don’t hate me for it ;(.

It begins with original voice from Orbitus, after one pattern and half there are added some hi-hats, then they stop (which I really don’t like) and new drumloop comes. Original lead sample, new drumloops, lead sample change, drumloops (there is drumloop change which sounds really ugly, from moreless dnb (in bad sound quality) it changes to dance, just suddenly without anything)… But… in all those three minutes no melody change (except from the pattern breaks also from original Orbitus)!

Then comes Orbitus’s second theme, it’s played till end, with same tactic, changing instruments and loops.

The song itself is mainly about the drumloops, nothing much is changed at all… Except that loop change I mentioned, it everything sounds nice

My biggest complaints go to the structure of the song, cymbals are almost randomly distributed into the patterns, sometimes it’s louder, sometimes it’s pretty quiet… It sounds very chaotically. The song also needs too big time to buildup, 2:56 (from 5:22) repeating of of six seconds long background melody is way TOO much.

Rating: 3 + 1 (first try bonus)

Keep practising, you are really talented. It’s really fantastic for first try, just train and I promise I’ll give you better rating next time. ;p

This is a great song for the first 3 mins. after that you just keeped on reepeting the same beats asif you were trying to build up to something but you never did. And true the beats did changed, you still reepeted those new beats why too long before you changed them to the next ones. Still the first 3 mins. were the best. Good Job.
