Seeking team to put together level pack
I've just been getting into JJ2 after years of not having it, thanks to the glories of eBay. I beat it again after a few days, so instead of getting bored and leaving it, I've been downloading some of the levels on this site. I didn't realize before how expansive some of the levels were, and it inspired me.
I tried to put together a level or two using the JCS, but it just confused the crap out of me. I have a really good idea for a story and some level design, I just can't do it on my own. I don't have the artistic skill for the tilesets, nor the technical ability to figure out the JCS interface. But I know my ideas and story are good. So does anyone want to help? My idea is thus: The First Great War - Rise of Carrotus King Vex of Carrotus has just authorized the Military of Carrotus to fund a new branch, the Starmada, the first non-exploratory mission into space. The game follows Ensign Thazz (an ancestor of Jazz and Spaz) through his training on Starbase 5, then on his first mission as the starship he's assigned to, the CSS Jackalope, is boarded by hostile alien forces. After the boarding, Thazz finds himself the last Starmada officer, and he has to board the enemy vessel and discover its origins, follow it back to the Reptilian Homeworld, and show them that a single Rabbit can be a force to be reckoned with. This will be supplemented with text files, written by me, that will expand the storyline. I know there's loads of talent on this forum, so if anyone wants to join forces, just reply!

Yea, I tried that. But you kind of have to know what you're trying to do first. If there was some kind of walk-through, that would help. You know, step by step, from the ground floor up. When I tried using that site, I didn't know where to start.

So I just spent an hour and a half trying to make a simple level, but all that happens when I try to run it is Jazz falls endlessly into the abyss. I'm at a loss to program myself!

If you're that lost, you can also take a look at the official levels in JCS and see how they work.

Maybe I have a corrupted EXE file? I toyed around with the intro level, just shifting things a bit. But when I saved and ran it, Jazz was followed by a trail that never faded, and it refused to scroll. Also, the words "BUST A GROOVE" never left the screen, also followed by a trail.

Check the layers. Ground tiles go to layer 4, and if BUST A GROOVE never left, fill layer 8 with something.
