Platform:
* W32/NT (Longhorn is still NT if you ask me and so is 2k, xp and 2k3) * Linux, Mac (new mac is based upon Linux so would be no problem) * maybe re-compiled versions for consoles The game: Massive Multiplayer, First Person/Thirdperson shooter. playing with tons of new friends in the large jazz1/2 worlds. in those worlds there will be large arenas where players can fight each other. Game types (playable in the Arenas in the worlds): * Battle, CTF, Race, etc * King of the hill * Last creature standing * someting like Trick atack like in the thony hawks pro skater series Storymode? there will be large worlds with mountants and stuff where each one can make his own story by chatting with others, walking around in the world of the jackrabbits, urning credits etc (the usual stuff) celshading? yes but only if ots good shading, couse i have seen ugly shading since i am doing it myself, good celshading is when it looks like a cut scene from jj2 or just the cartoons you see on TV. (some of you will notice that some of these things are planned in my own 3d project, but if i could make out the rulez jazz3 would look like this, kinda)

To follow up on what you said about cellshading, no Cell Shading that looks like LoZ: Windwaker or even worse Dragon Ball Ultimate Battle 22. I think cell shading that looks something like Wild Arms 3 or WWE Day of Reckoning, I think that's cell shaded. Or even better, Viewtiful Joe kind of graphics!

Game Style:
The game should stay like how it is (2D Platform). It should also be made a bit more rpg ish (leveling stuff). Platform: PC would be good and you should make it for the new Nintendo DS and Gameboy Advance Time Period: It should be after jazz jackrabbit 2. Graphics Type: Same as jjr2. Multiplayer Types: Yes. CTF! Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch,LMS,King of the hill,etc.. Companies: I think rare should be the company for this! Stories and Cutscenes: - ---------------------------------------------- And this is my opinion ![]()

Or...or... it could be a semi-3D game. Everything in the game will be 3D (no sprites whatsoever) but the view could be of the standard 2D platform view we use in JJ2. That would improve the graphics a lot, but it's really hard to do good-looking cartoonish 3D graphics (hmm, anyone remember the 3D platform game Bugs Bunny Back in Time? Eww....).
Ok, ok, I'll get to the point now: I think the game should move on, but not forget its roots, unless everyone wants a completely new game that would be a world apart from its prequels if it weren't for the similar characters and the story, which should take place after JJ2 (btw, in JJ3 Devan kidnapped Jazz'c children.. that is pretty much the same as when Devan kidnapped Eva, so maybe there should be a story with Devan but is not centred around him or his evil plans?). <---- That's one whole, long sentence ppl! ![]() We mustn't forget that the original JJ1 and JJ2 were both released in a time when 3D-gaming was the norm! First JJ1 smacked Doom on its fingers just as it was about to take the gaming world with it slimy hands. Then JJ2 came and showed Quake II where the corner was (although I don't think JJ2 could ever match Half-Life ![]() I mean, 2D has its obvious limitations: only 4 directions to go in, less interaction with objects and enemies, less spectacular lvl design (I'm not saying that Epic's JJ1 or JJ2 levels are bad, but 3D games can offer more variety and cooler stuff because 3D games do not rely on tilesets the way platform games do), but since when did JJ1 or JJ2 try to beat 3D games on their own territory? It's gameplay that matters! I once saw a review a long time ago that claimed a JJ2 battle game was even more exciting than a Quake II deathmatch. Although I've only played Quake III (it is supposedly better than its prequels) I can still honestly say that I agree with the reviewer. JJ3 must keep its prequels' amazing gameplay, excitement and replayability and add lots more. This may sound like a JJ2 expansion, but theoretically, if you add and improve enough stuff (i.e. A LOT of stuff) it becomes a sequel. ![]() ![]() If, and only if, JJ3 stays 2D, it would mean that Xbox and PS2 users will be disappointed because they are used to 3D graphics and of course, for PC users, it means that the uber-expensive graphic cards ppl bought would be rendered useless. That's where we go back to the point I made at the top of my post. 2D/3D platform gaming. I don't want to go into more detail about things like multiplayer types, story, etc. They have already been made. I only posted this because everyone was talking of either taking the next step into the 3D world without thinking about how revolutionary JJ1 and JJ2 was for platform gaming, or being conservative and "just fix the current bugs and leave it as it is". What do YOU think? Last edited by White Rabbit; Nov 22, 2004 at 11:08 AM. |

I will reply soon. I have a lot on my mind. But you can be sure I will.
Also, don't ask about the demo. I don't want this thread closed. There are plenty of threads that talk about the demo.

No, I'm not good at making things. I kinda wanna get a general discussion out of everyone because I am wanting more Jazz talk on this board. As I write this I am working on a huge thread that will be about a ton of things.... and I might make it another "choose" thread. It will be more controversial because it involves changing Jazz and the game... you'll see... it will be fun.

Ah... but what's the point discussing about JJ3 if it's never going to get made?

I think it should be a 2D game because it if it wasn't it would hafto be a third person shooter which isn't as good for shooting.I think it should be like jj1 with al the extras of jj2(i.e. multiplayer,jcs,buttstomp...)because let's face it jazz1 was alot better single player.also bots would be cool and improved AI.And I like R3ptiles sugestion on characters.
I think I should just make it that way I'm sure to have a say in how it's made. By the way ,any 3D Sonic is stuped. |

Game style: Jazz 3 should be a 3D Platformer, with several FPS twists, such as an optional first-person view. Also, i'd like to see something like the Havok engine from Half-Life 2 incorperated, so you can pick stuff up and throw it and stuff.
Platform: (multiple-choice) All of them. Time period: Sequel. Graphics type: Cell-Shaded. Makes sense. Multiplayer Gametypes: Anything in Jazz 2 now, with some fan game-types incorperated, such as survivor. Other companies involved: Not sure. Cinematic scenes: I think that Jazz 3 should have a light storyline. Also, i'd like to see the storyline be a bit darker than Jazz 2. |

There is little on the gaming front that WinXP does that Win2k doesn't. Come to think of it, there's nothing that XP does that 2k doesn't as far as Windows games are concerned. I mean, the same version of DirectX is available for both, and that's what matters. So, support Win2k/XP/whatever, which ties nicely into the Xbox if you want to head that way (as (IIRC) the Xbox is a stripped-down Win2k kernel). Also, just because you can use all sorts of fancy effects doesn't mean you have to. There's no reason to alienate those of us with older graphics cards/systems either (i.e. GeForce 4) - look at what Uplink acheived with simple 2D graphics.
Anyway, enough of the rant about system specs. I'd keep the side-scrolling type of gameplay. There's enough FPS games around as it is, and to create a FPS Jazz would detract from the current style of things. By all means make it 3D, but let's not make it just another Doom game. On the multiplayer side, the current game types are pretty good, but it'd be nice to have some sort of scritping system to create extra ones. Then again, the lack of a scripting system hasn't stopped people coming up with some strange levels by (ab)using warps... With the rest, I can't really think of anything that hasn't already been said. |

It's way to early to think about that now, dude. They haven't even re-started it.

Are you ready for n00bs super odd suggestion?
Has ANYONE played Ratchet and Clank 3? Theres some Old-Skool platformers tied in with the games storyline. So Have JJ3 if it's made into a 3d platformer with an optional FPS mode(like you can switch from the menu), but also with some old skool platforming levels (like some could be remakes of JJ1 and JJ2 levels) that either move the story along or are just there for amusment. Hope that makes sense |

I'm thinking along those lines as well.
EDIT: And I think a handful pf people mentioned this at least once... XP

Yes, there should definitely be some 3D-stages of JJ3 (like in JJ1 bonus lvls).
