There are only 2 ranges in this system (and in fact in most RPGish systems)- melee and ranged. Melee things are, generally, things that are at such a short range you need to walk to your target and cannot hit anything flying. Ranged is anything longer than that.

Can it hit things flying higher than 10 feet up?

That is a pointless question. Melee is a classification that has an actual meaning in the game. In that case, the gun (while being in reality some kinda impossible and useless ranged weapon) would be melee. Think about this- with that hypothetical gun, would you be able to hit a hot-air balloon? If it was classified as ranged, then it would be able to hit such a balloon even if the balloon was 50 feet in the air.

No, I mean it is impossible to shoot down a hot air balloon with a gun that has bullets which magically dissapear after 10 feet. Unless it is a very low-flying balloon.

Alright, I made quite a few new monsters. I still have some to go, but I am nearing the mark. Here are some more samples.
Magick Wisp: /good/ 500 d 10 hp *etherial (immune to physical damage; passive) immune to all elements but darkness Madman: /neutral/ 10 d melee 600 hp 40 mp *break (deals 500 kinetic d; 10 mp) *crack (deals 1500 kinetic d and confuses; takes 30 mp and 40 hp) Autohammer: /neutral/ 600 d melee 400 hp strong against fire, steel. weak against lightning Dark Matter: /evil/ 1000 d melee 600 hp strong against all elements Yeti: /neutral/ 300 d melee 600 hp immune to ice. weak against fire Oh, and I forgot- if an attack is melee range, you need to mark so. I have fixed all the previous monsters that should have been marked as melee but were not.

Here is another thing on my agenda- law-changing items/techniques/whatever. Should they be allowed?

Xion is for moderation?
But, anyway, since I got FFTA myself (like a week or two ago) I have quite a knowledge of it also. So does Strato.

I guess I could moderate the battles for such things...
And my vote is YES...but they'd have to be extremely rare and careful. Antilaw cards and Law cards would be needed...but who would be the judge? I...guess I could judge...Xion on a Chocobo... Xion is asleep in his chair, screen glowing in his face.

Naw, let's stick with Cid. Strato could be Cid, since he's not on very often.

So a player would actually have to be the judge? You only need to have some laws for each battle. It doesn't need anybody to actually do stuff, unless you like teleporting corpses around.

@Risp: Ah. Well, uh... *brain fart* I can't think now.
@Xion: That should be interesting. >=D

I guess I could judge...Being a planeswalker enables me to be at battles and such with ease, and my Planal Rift ability can move the courpses...
Cards are easy... And laws are easy. Anybody willing to switch over to the JP overdrive system? Combos and Totemas and Overdrive abilities... And of course, I can fight myself so I may need abilities. ![]()

However, you lack the judge's ability of being invincible and impartial. Hopefully imparital, at least.

All he has to do is ask Queen Remedi nicely. And leaving behind all of those Law/Antilaw Cards helps too.
![]() HOWEVER... Xion cannot be invincible/impartial if he is a participant is battle. 'Nuff said. He can still use Law/Antilaw cards, though.

I don't trust you to choose the laws. Or else I will find myself, in critical battles, with my largest advantage forbidden. Oh, and you might want, if you insist on being some kinda judge, to see how the law system works in this game. It is somewhat different, because JP does not translate into this game well, nor would jail work well.

The Law system will work like this...
I will throw all the laws into a hat, and draw three at complete random. These three are now BANNED at the beginning of the battle. R1-R4 laws warrant a Yellow card, and the removal of all JP/Overdrive from the offending unit. R5 laws warant a Yellow card, Removal of all JP/Overdrive from the offending unit, AND they will be dispelled of all positive boost magic. R6 laws warrant a Red Card, Removal from battle, Removal of all JP/Overdrive, and the confiscation of Unit's equipment untill they are released from the Gran Da Val prison. I'll get a list of the laws up soon...hopefully.

Didn't I already make the system, like... a few weeks ago? And no prision. That would only go to two extremes- pointless or overly evil.

Jail? Who said anything about jail?
I merely said "Removal from battle" not "thrown in Jail" oh. Gran Da Valian Prison. Well, that's only a temp thing, since some battles can run upwards to a week. Besides, they will have a soft bed, a warm room, and hot food and cold water/hot water. When the battle is finished, you'll get your unit back. The items are just taken away so that they don't "fight back" to get back into the fight, but I do agree that they will be returned. You're welcome. That law system had five judges, with their pros and cons. But that's a touch biased, also, don't you think? All I need is every type of magic, weapon, and a few more (Dmg: Human, Fight, Magic, Law Cards, and so on) and throw them into a hat.

An army of judges? Sounds like fun.
And then Sin comes and wipes everyone out, leaving Cid alive. He absorbs him and becomes Cin, Judgemaster of the universe!!! ...Until Marche cleans his sorry clock. X)

But, for the record, any peep army turf is like a Jagd. However, in this game death isn't perminent without the help of the judges. So it is like a Jagd without the downside.

No, more passive stuff. All peep army turf has equipment in place that would nullify your judge powers. I guess you could come if you want, but you could only watch.
@L_G- so then what happens if two battles are going on at once? And what about how Ezel mentions 'the magic judge' and stuff going on vacation sometimes if you ask him for market gossip? Oh, and several characters have 'bring back from the dead' spells.
