On the JMMB in late 1999 a bunch of people were screaming "Jazz2 is dead" but in 2003 it's still being played, I think that says something. Just because a game isn't a huge success or loses a lot of its fanbase never makes it 'dead', because people are still playing it.

The new JDC season, JCS94, new online gametypes, lots of forum and IRC activity (certainly not to the degree of larger-scale games, but nevertheless still credible)...Jazz2 is not dead and won't die for a long while at least while the community is still alive. I hate to be repetitive but the one thing I know will make a large boost in community activity would be getting the source code, and I don't think that is such a far-off thing. We could implement and improve on tons of stuff, we could combine the 1.23 and TSF communities more successfully, possibilities are endless.

As for Jazz3, I doubt it, but I don't think it's something to sneeze at.

OMF:BG will be definantly under-whelming becuase it will be far behind the curve by the time it comes out. Thats the risk of taking to long, as it was started in 2000 it will be like a game made in 2000. Sry to be so negative.

But Epic forgot about one thing when they shifted away from all things jazzy. They left a strong community with many great members, many of them programers, level makers, tileset makers, story writers, speech writers, and even the life and blood of jj2, the fans. That and the fact that their attitude towards jj2 gives it a lot of attention. We get our time in the spotlite on many sites, sometimes in praise, sometimes as a joke, but either way, it gets the message out that jazz is still alive and we need some help. Companies seeing this may see an opprotunity, a great game could be made if only they tried a little. Seeing the true sucsess that jazz 2 turned out to be, seeing a handful of players conquer all, it shows that even a simple game thats well past it's prime can prove to be a serious game that, with the proper advertising, can make a bunch of money. That is what game makers want.

OMF:BG will come out. It is coming out this September. The graphics are *not* that of 2000. They are breathtaking, to say the least. OMF:BG will come out and own. As far as what I voted on the poll, I think JJ3 won't come out and that JJ2 is half-dead.

Why would we actually care if JJ2 is dead? I don't give a (derby) about it.

Since i haven't been on Jcf for a while and i don't play JJ2 anymore, i wouldn't know if this has been done.... but we should make an online petition of wanting to make JJ3. If epic sees that they will have enough buyers, and that JJ2 was played by so many people for so long, that might make them give a second thought to JJ3.

My personal opinion right now though is that JJ2 will live on for a while longer, but JJ3 won't come out.
