when testing a level, this happened...

when i crossed a certain point, some tiles (i believe one tile) just disappeared (became invisible) from the screen leaving a blank hole, as if it was triggered or so, only it reappeared after crossing another point - very weird, and it happened thru the whole level

i think this started happening when i had altered the tileset a bit and rebuilt it (not touching any used tiles tho)

i fixed the problem by just putting the same tile on the sprite layer again

now anyone know why it happened?

hmm

you could send it to me and I could take a look. but I suppose you wouldn't like to do that (:

Once, when I was making a MP level, I put in some trigger scenery, and when I ran the level, blocks were missing from everywhere, that were not animations, showed up normally in JCS and had no trigger scenery event on them. Odd. I still don't know why (:

I had the same problem some time ago... When I walked some tiles above or below the trigger zone (didn't touch it) it responded just like that I touched it. Later I was receiving access violations.

This is probably not the same, but once when playing a level with a clumsily compiled tileset, the non-transparent parts of tiles that were partially off screen were all black.

Hmm. From my extensive oldbie knowledge, I'd say it sounds like you're running out of room. Is the level awfully big (and/or has a ton of animation in it)? I'm not sure about the tileset thing, as I'm quite new to the tileset-making world. =)

i am using a 940-tiles tileset aye, so i also believe memory problems have to with it (when it comes to memory problems i m yer man! ) - anyways, the level (the first tr2-level) is now done and it looks like its fully bugfree now

Either you didn't setup the collapsing scenary right (That's what happened to me once) or as Overlord said or your game is messed up.

I recently had a similar problem making my new lp. I had an animated tile that wouldn't appear. Once I changed around the tiles that it used it was fine though. Weirdness.

Note that some tiles do not use a complete masking. If you walk over them, the trigger will be activated, so if the trigger was supposed to make the tile disappear, you'd fall through unless you ran past the area. Should this be your problem, make sure you're careful with the masking of the tiles in your choice.
