Coop LAN?

I already know of several multiplayer online game launchers, but does anyboyd out there know how to launch a coop game on a lan server? or a race game? if i use these online launchers and want to play with a buddy over the lan, my firewall (which cannot be disabled or altered by any means) will mess it up, and not even ppl on the same lan will be able to connect, suggestions anyone?

First off, welcome to the JCF and the community in general!

As for your question: I do not think that is possible, though I'm not definite. There might be a way via hex-editing, but I'm honestly not sure.

Sorry I couldn't help much, but welcome anyways.

Edit: This probably should be in Technical Help.

First of all, if your firewall can't be disabled or altered by any means, you have a very bad firewall. If you are serious about playing JJ2 (or any online games, for that matter), you will have to make some changes to the firewall settings.

As far as I know, none of the online launchers support LAN play directly. However, all you need to do is host a game with a launcher, and then for the people in your network who want to play, instead of choosing your server in the server list, they should just enter the local (192.168.x.x) IP. This will allow everyone on the LAN to join the server, as well as let people from the internet play as well. If you don't want to have people from the internet playing (you want a private game), some launchers (I know XJJ2 does) have an option for disabling of listing in the server lists.

Could you give some more detail about your network? If you have a firewall program running on the local computer, the above solution will not work, but if you have a router or some other external firewall it will.

Or just host a battle game on LAN with a single player level and then change the game type to Single player with my Controller 4.
You can download the program here:

And remember to do this before anyone joins your server or people will see the game as battle. Switching game type to single player will make end areas work properly unlike in the Coop mode. I haven't tested this on a LAN yet (cus I don't have it) but I think it should work just fine.

Thanks ppl

Well, i'll get a chance to finally test the solution proposed by Link, makes sense to me, i forgot that the game can establish a direct connection over the lan without having to go thru any connection servers online. I've also tried your launcher overlord, and i think its great. My only beef is that i find xjj2 to be a bit more user friendly, tho not as effective if u wish to admin a serious game (like a clan battle, or an assault map)

Peace out ppl

New problem

Well, no luck overlord. When i do as you suggested and put in Single Player mode, there are no enemies, and the levels finish events dont always work. When i put it in coop mode, the enemies always work, but the level finish events dont, any suggestions?
