Renaming.. to a new level?

A while ago I joined a server and my name was changed to jam[RR]Dr. E. I thought nothing of it- just left, rejoined... the same. Joined another server.. the same. Checked the registry- the same!

My name had been changed in the registry. What the hell? Anyway, just today I was playing online and noticed my name is now jam[RR]XDOISUX and it has again changed in the registry.

I'm not sure how this happened or who did it but surely permanent name changes aren't a good thing :\ Has this happened to anyone else?

Oh yeah and I can't change it back! I tried modifying the registry key and it just changed back to what it was before.

Try renaming yourself in jj2. there is a maximum character length, maybe what you were changing it to was too long.

Yes this has happened to me.
I'am pretty sure the way I got rid of it was just renaming myself ingame but it was a long time ago.
Oh, and when I was renamed like that it was spazzyman that did it to me.

I'm not sure, but it could be that the JazzED program confused Jazz2 and changhed your name.

I am quite sure that jazz2 just saved your nickname when you closed it.

The only time (to my knowledge) when jj2 saves the nickname to registry is when you go through the player edit sceen just before joining/hosting a server.
And if you ask me, those names you posted look like a fusion of 2 seperate nicknames to me.

Yes, jam[RR] is my nickname and the Dr. E or XDOISUX are different ones. I don't use JazzEd by the way and I don't think I have it at the moment.

I forget how, but I saw this nickname combo thing long before renaming came onto the scene. I would not worry about it.
