Exclamation JDC Season 7 Starts Next Week. Info is here.

Next season (which starts a week from the time of this post), will be mostly the same as this one. Duels will work the same way and so on. There will probably be a few more events though. The main addition to JDC is a sort of extended event called JDCE. It is currently under construction and is nearing completion. Here is some info on it.

What is JDCE?

JDCE stands for Jazz Duelist Challenge - Elimination. It is a new part of JDC that runs alongside the current season. It uses a more traditional structure for a tournament, one that requires you to progress through a series of matches arranged by the system. Every time you beat a person, they are eliminated and you progress to the next match. Unlike regular JDC duels, you cannot select your opponents. JDCE is not a separate tournament. You must have a regular JDC account to participate in JDCE. The winner of a JDCE “season” will get a set amount of points added to their score for the main season. The runners up may get points as well.

About JDCE duels.

In JDCE you must duel the person the system matches you up with. You will have one week to complete that duel, and failure to do so will result in one of a few things happening, which will be listed later on. Both participants of the duel MUST agree on all of the following BEFORE the duel is started: The host (third party highly recommended), the roast count and/or time limit and the level. If you do not duel, one of you will still have to be eliminated. If the reason for the duel not being done is because someone is away, the person who is away will be declared the loser. If there is a chance that the duel can be completed in the near future, the time period may be extended. Otherwise, the loser will simply be selected by a coin-flip. You can see what time the user is usually playing jazz2 by looking in their user details.

Qualification Matches
Before the actual JDCE season starts, you must go through the qualification matches. JDCE can only hold 16, 32, 64 (and so on) people due to the type of system it uses, so a qualification phase where a few people are eleminated must be done. In the qualification phase, you will be placed into a group with people that have similar GMT offests (time zones) to you. You must then duel all of the people in your group. After qualification is over, the players who dueled the worst will be eleminated so the number will be rounded to one that works. Players who don't duel at all will automatically be ranked the lowest.

JDCE is going to be on a seperate website, and it is totally optional. We will most likely make it so all signups for JDCE will take place in round 1 of season 7, the qualification in round 2, and the rest of JDC in the other rounds. Depending on how long it takes, we may do 2 or 3 JDCE seasons during the regular JDC season. Ask any questions here, and they will be answered.

I'm actually thinking of participating in season 7, and telling some other CC members to join, who're either bored or need training.

It isn't so bad. I do like the idea. The timing isn't too bad, but that's just because I can be there It seems like it'll be interesting!

One week, eh? I think i might be able to make that just in time....

Stiletto: Mike said when it starts. signing up will probably be done during the first round (i.e. in one week), and the tournament itself would start in the second round (i.e. in two weeks)

imo you should forget the qualification stage and just give people byes.

Is it battle only?

Battle or 1 on 1 CTF.

The problem with doing that stripe is deciding who get by and who doesn't. We also expect many people to sign up and then not do anything, so qualification should also eliminate those who will basically not do anything.

There's also a tiny problem with qualifications... suppose 17 people sign up... you need to have 16. How would you arrange qualification matches so that one person gets eliminated, and the other 16 don't? Just wondering about that...

The person who does the worst out of all the people will be eleminated. If there is a person who doesn't participate, they will be eleminated.

The person who does the very worst overall would then get eliminated Engima.

There would be probably 5 groups. 3 groups would have 3 people and the other 2 groups would have 4 people.

If there were 16 people we would skip elimination and go right to single elimination, but that is unlikely.

I still say give byes. I doesn't really matter who gets the bye or not (the best player will still theoretically win), and after the first tourney you can give the byes to the best seated returnees.

Changing the 4 or 5 matches of the qualification round to the 1 bye will be worth it.

I'm just trying to help you succeed where every other attempt has failed, and I think making the tournament as short as possible is key to this.

Answer this:

Does JDC-E decides in which level the duel must be done?

Sounds good, i'll be sure to be active this season. I couldn't keep up with last season (Season 6).

Hmm, time to train, I also gotta get my not-so-secret JJ2 project done, no it ain't a level pack.

Ah, never mind. I won't join JDC (or JDCE), I changed my mind. And I won't recommend it to anyone either. Sorry.
