The renaming itself was not according to the rules (see the lack of a proper request here) and it wasn't actually done by the admin staff, so our own rules are not in any way being broken by restoring the names.

Even though Shadow seems like someone who never came back, I don't really know if it's nice to kick people out of their names just because someone else wants them. Maybe other admins have another judgements but I would say you should try and come up with another name.
