Unfortunately not, it's not going to be for a while either. life is currently teaching me how to be busy.
The other site still gets update when stuff happens but it has been few and far between. I'm sorry for gettin your hopes up about the completion date, if things had continued how they were before I would be near finishing by now but they haven't, so it isnt. Please guys don't post "It's not gonna get finished" posts because thats just not true, this is my project and I am dying to complete it but just havnt had the time. Thanks for understanding Chris |

Those who are interested in what is happening, please check the news site. Things are running along beautifully at the moment.
EDIT Sorry for posting again but I'm in a great mood as the following things work brilliantly in the game engine. * Terrain * Background Music * Static Objects * Platforms (there are two types, those that follow waypoints around a set path, and the traditional ones that rotate on the end of an arm) * Pickups (so all the food items are spinning and bobbing ! Ah it all looks grand !....Now off to add some physics information to the objects so they interact properly with 'physics objects' (objects that can just be knocked about by forces) and the characters. Hey Baggers
Sorry for the long dry period. Been...busy. With too much stuff to list off. Glad to see you are still making regular progress...I am still positive this project will be awsome. Anyway, we'll talk more later! -Roman

*looks up*
. . . Right...moving on The wee vid you requested...very tiny and very uninteresting but thats what ye asked for!...You will see that the objects move rather jerkily....well they dont actually but a funny effect from the engine and fraps being together causes this: Ive coded my engine to adapt the speed it refreshes objects, the screen...and various other things, based on the load on the processer. Bacially it optimises itself so it runs at a good speed at all times....however Fraps also adjusts itself to the speed of the computer....So as one adjusts the other adjusts to it...and then they do this repeatedly!...wihout fraps on it runs very smoothly. Anyway after all that it appears that although I have uploaded the video... that I cant get it...grrrr Birdie, if you PM me your email address, then I'll email it to you. Ok back to work Bye |

HAHA what a (-) typical programming problem....Just been hunting through 1500 lines of code to try and find a bug and it turns out that in one place I had
= instead of <= ...Thats it..... ...I need a better hobby ! [EDIT] Perfect !...'tis fixed now. Back to the physics business I was meant to be doing now. Thats probably all the work I'll get done today though as I'm going for a meal at some friend's house in half and hour. Bye Last edited by Baggers; Jun 10, 2006 at 07:57 AM. |

Been there, done that.
The last one of those I did was using "||" when I meant to use "|". A logical and a bitwise OR are two different things, and "FD_READ || FD_WRITE || FD_ACCEPT" does not work particularly well. Took me a good hour to track that one down. |
Jun 10, 2006, 01:02 PM | |
I'm glad I don't have to do that

Torkell: Ouch !...yeah it sucks !
All: been working on more code today, basically cleaning things up...and trying to add physics objects, however I'm having some large coder problems at the sec cause the game to crash silently (without an error) so I'm now digging to try and find the problem. |

Yeah...Seriously man, it was getting there.
I got Jazz loaded in and jumping about collecting stuff a riding the platforms (sounds like Ive gone backwards since the early videos but trust me there was 100 times more code in making MIA as it had to be able to handle any kind of character) and I was just having a really weird bug in the weapon system when life stepped in. Theres no doubt I want this to go somewhere, and the fact that I have a uni place for a games programming course for the next four years means I will be able to play with this some more. laters |
