1.Reistall jj2 and see what happen if it works.
2.Clean out your jj2 registry and see what happen.
3.If you have a firewall just put the TCP and UPD 10052 at exceptions.
4.If you have a antivir system just put the jj2 game at exception.
5.If those didn't work try to disable the firewall and the antivir(in case you have).

Is there a community hamachi server? Also, is it possible to host my server over a public proxy? If so, how?

Hmmm. Since I can't host normally, if I were to use a VPN, could I then host? Or I'm not really sure how it would connect or anything. VPNs are still new to me. But if I hosted on a public VPN server, then you would be able to connect?

Why don't you use Hamachi? I think is good enough for this game.

Because only people on the Hamachi network can join. And a lot of players don't have Hamachi.

There are many jj2 hamachi servers, the best way to let ppl join your servers is to name your server like this (or close to it):

Hamachi [network name] [network password]

So my server would be:

Hamachi - jjrnetwork4 - no pas

The 4 is because its the 4th network, a network can only have 16 ppl unless you pay for it. So be alert for when your hamachi is full.

(And yes, sometimes ppl join: I once had a server with like 6 ppl with only doing this)

JJ2+ feature request: built-in Hamachi.

Thanks

Why? Although JJ2+ fixes some/most CTO problems, built-in VPN support would be quite nice, as it would allow you to host a server outside your home network, which is accessible trough a server list (the LAN server list) without listing it publicly. No more fooling around with IP addresses for unlisted servers, just list them privately.

Jerry, you are missing the point. If I had a VPN and hosted a server, could others join? is my question. Or would the people have to be part of the VPN? Also, you gave me a crazy idea, guys. Check my latest post in the JJ2+ thread.

The peoples need to be a part of that network and that VPN is a sub-network of that network.
But is very complicated to make a secure VPN, like implementing protocols SSL/TSL, PPTP etc..

There's a problem. When I try to upload files, there comes an error message. Something about a "twitter".

I've searched for this particular problem, but couldn't find answers. I'm at a student network with one centralized gigarouter. On the university network page it says that most UDP ports are closed, TCP connections can only be set up with computers at the network..I successfully managed to join my own server on TCP with two instances of JJ2 runnning. OS is Windows vista.

When I try to join a game through the internet, all servers and all versions are pinging. According to the GIP my own server is pinging too, but I can join myself

But on ubuntu/linux, the application I use for filesharing (Nicotine+) works both when uploading and downloading (to tell you about ports). I tried running JJ2 on wine, and it worked, but I haven't tested it online yet.

EDIT: I can join my own server both on TCP and internet play, but nothing else. GIP shows it's pinging.

Any help about the student network situation?

Unfortunately, without UDP access (and properly forwarded TCP access) there's no hope. You'll be able to see yourself and any other servers from within your school's network, but anything outside that (including the GIP script) will see it as pinging and be unable to join.

Today I tried using the wireless connection at school, and it worked! Usually I sit at home with a wired connection that goes through the walls and some boxes. At school I could join servers, play, and had no "connection time out"-problems. The only problem was that every time a round was finished and the next level were to load, I got "Access violation"-error (this was on ubuntu/linux with wine, on the MICHAEL FARADAY server). Should I try removing the JAZZ2.CFG file, like I've seen others suggested?

My own servers were still pinging, though.

Ohwell, because Dermo bumped, I might just aswell post here.
Router: Elisa Kotiboksi, a slightly modified Wippies-router (finnish, Elisa Kotiboksi = Elisa Homebox)
Firewall: None
Network: About 7-8 computers, mine uses XP.
Problem: The router doesn't fetch information that should be sent to it. The router requires that the setup is used on my ISP's web page.
