I guess that Emerald Citadel is a pretty bad name too... Anyone has ideas?

I don't know about the level, but that tileset is too limiting. I see you're trying some stuff with it though. But I would use another tileset instead of that one. The picture shows that the level is very green, as everything I see there is green. The food, the RF ammo, the background, the ground tiles etc. I see stars in the background though. The name is not that bad in my opinion.

Thanks cooba for the idea. ^^

I'll stick to that name now.

Ah, and those towers in the bg aren't the only buildings there. There's also the main palace.

I understand the reference!!1

While I browsed through the first pages I saw many levels that were never uploaded. What about that Odyssey level by P4ul? Was that DeathF1? What about 'Not Quite Emerald'?

(Don't take that seriously, now I realize how funny it would have been if Cursed Leaves was named 'Not Quite Emerald')

Haha.

Anyway, "QE,A" is going to be the first level of my first pack.

Annnnd, for the second level, I want YOU to choose the tileset I will use:

Option a: Windstorm Fortress (;P)
Option b: Oddysey (;PP)
Option c: Noka's new IC-IF Tubelectric which is yum (cooba will probably choose this ;P)
Option d: Other (specify which tileset)

Well, Odyssey and WSF don't have very original things to be made because many people used it. The Tube Electric tileset is pretty good and underused, and it could be possible to make something original. I don't know about other sets, it depends what kind of sets you like.

I guess that you made me used the Tubelectric one.

I also guess I'll have fun with the textured background. It is really yum.

Stay tuned 'cause I'll show some screenshots when I get it started!

An Original Level Name

While I have no level right now, I am thinking of making a new level using the JJ1 Crysilis tileset, and I am going to call it Fortunate Fortunes CTF.
I am going to upload this level if I finish it.
So far, I haven't started yet, but I need a good JJ1 Crysilis tileset conversion.
If you give me any links to one, thanks!

I liked the background that faded to blue more. It gave everything some contrast, which made the green stand out better.

I love the new bg. Here is a shot of the 'hospital'. That's where you get when you fall into a pit. There are delayed suckertubes inside and a warp, so you need to wait a bit before you leave it. I had to use jjfly because there's no platform under it yet.

Your eye candy is terrific. You should really try to make it look less random and more unique so that the level doesn't look all the same. Give it more of a feel and try to do more of a background as well.

Wait huh????

You tell him his eye candy is terrific and then tell him what sucks about it???

Anyway make the background a textured 3D background and see if it makes it any better...

Looks pretty nice, Jimbob

Anyway, good news and bad news about my pack:

Good news is, that I decided the pack to get a bit bigger, so there'll be more playing.

Bad news is, that because the pack will be bigger, it will take longer to complete it. So it will show up a bit later.

Actually, those two parts of the level (see the screenies I posted above) are really close together.

Well I'm using a small tileset that really doesn't offer that much of a background/foreground aside from the cave tiles and the crystals.
And the eyecandy would look too confusing and might annoy the player if I added "a little more variety".

I've been bugging Violet for a conversion of this tileset for the longest time because the conversion we have now is simply terrible.

I recommend making transitions between the brown background to the black crystal background in certain places, covering over the transition with some foreground stuff.

I kind of expected a reply like this. Your level isn't going to become better because you feel a shortage of tiles. Besides I'm pretty convinced there ARE background tiles:

Try to take usage of multiple layers and mix the dark tiles with your current using the translation tiles just next to the sign. Also you should avoid making dead-ends and spread out your weaponry more.

The level design looks bland in It's Darn Cold, Jimbob, but I'll give that the benefit of the doubt. However the big problem with the screen is that the inner ledge things aren't randomized enough in type and structure.

I have gotten further in to making the level.
At first I was going to call it "It's (-) Cold!" (a pun referring to the tileset) but ahh, what the hell.

Listen to n00b; you're working with a natural tileset. Also, please try to be more careful with ammo placement, and the screens don't reflect you've gained knowledge from guides or reading other reviews on previous uploads.

The cave tiles look abit 'squared off', making them more curvy and organic would probably help.

Try varying their location, type and flip more of the tiles. I call them "inner ledge things" because it is possible to stand on them opening up some cool design ideas I've toyed with.

My level again

This is the bottom of my level.
As you can see, I also added a boarder around it.
The bottom of the level is kinda cool, (imo), because you have to stomp one of the bridges to get into the water.
And yes, n00b, I still know about the inner ledge things. I just didn't add them to the bottom yet.
