I know nothing about modelling, but if a model takes you 10 minutes that's too less I guess. :P

And it doesn't show up for me.

Open a new thread for your own stuff in the Art Forum please, DarkJazz. This thread is about Baggers' 3D JJ game, not about 3D modeling.

Though I think you have some potential. How long have you been messing around with 3D modeling?

I have a question Baggers:
Are you putting the game online (for download) or not?
Please also make a features list (If you haven't got one, cos if you have, I missed it), ok? Thnx!

Of course he'll put it online for everyone to download, how else could someone get it otherwise?

Christ on a bike, i leave for a few hours and this happens !

Ok DarkJazz/IdiotJazz/whatever...PLEASE USE THE EDIT BUTTON...unless you mouse is broken and you have a touch screen and no fingers just huge club hands there is no reason not to use it. Also please dont ramble....I think the idea of your own thread in the art forum is a great idea ! please do that or your enthusiasm will swamp my thread.
Also regarding questions, i have a busy life aswell as doing the jazz game, please give me a few days to reply to you...if i havnt answered then, then post ONCE ! I am so anti spam and rule breaking its almost obsesive and one way to really put me off you is to break simple etiquete.

Ok rant over, now to the models, my criticism is that they dont look like the sprites from i game, thats all im looking for, acurate copies !...check out my turtle on a past page...i modeled it directly from the original sprites....if you check my first ever post i am going for the STYLE so i need the models to be fairly acurate....i hope im being explicit enough here.
But thankyou so much for your enthusiasm, it really does help...however its time to start your own thread !

Thanks all for your comments...make sure you visit darkjazz's thread to critic his work

Gahhh....d,d,double p,posting AGIAIN !....RAGE BUILDING...-puts 3 morphene patches on face...rage subsiding..........calm.

Ok lets answer all those questions you wanted answering !

Q. Are you makin' a demo?
A. No, but a beta is on the way.

Q. And will the game have an online feature?
A. Nope thats out of my knowledge at the moment...i will study it at a later date though.

Q. Will there be updates after the game is released?
A. Probably..bug fixes and the like...though it will be difficult due to the reasons below

Q. If I have DarkBasic® and practiced a lot, can we make a game together?
A. In a word...No. I generaly like working on my own projects, but this is my last project for a while now and im determined to get it finished... all next year im teaching in uganda and though i may have some internet access it will be hard to get fixes and such done...so i doubt im coding for a while .

Q. is your game played with a mouse?
A: Nope, ive deliberatly tried not to....early on i did incorperate mouse control but it didnt feel raw enough....the free targeting will be mouse controled though.

features ? hmmm

Well.
Jazz and Spaz (Not modeled yet)
Jazz
===
Running
jumping
sprinting
superjump
stomping
copter ears
Shooting (see below)
Spaz
====
Running
jumping
sprinting
Double jump
stomping
Shooting (see below)

Shooting
======
Blaster
Boucers
Guided missiles
Flame thrower
Strange OEM blaster that fires through walls

Targeting
=======
A new feature but rather neccesary in 3D
Lock onto enemy
Switch between enemies
If in screen the gun points at the enemy and you can fire at will!

Scenery
======
Moving platforms
Ammo (though all ammo is unlimited currently)
fruit
Health carrots
Diamonds
Trampolines

Effects
=====
Awesome particle effects, very swish...handle fire, smoke, debry, the flame thrower etc

AI
==
Basic Turtle ...half complete
Bats .. complete but need a model
DragonFlys .. almost complete..just need to remoe bug that lets them fly through the floor and the one where they knock jazz underground !

Misc
===
A 3rd dimension !
Hud scales in all screensizes..no advantage from a higher resolution...other than looking crisper !

Um they may be a bit more but i cant think of it yet

Hope that answers some questions !

Couldn't you include mouse control as an optional option ()? I prefer mouse control for player movement above keyboard control, especially in 3D games.

Ok here is a WIP of the Spaz model im working on, Still very WIP, i have to thank jonny for the human model it mad the basis for this attempt....any major flaws so far ?
My major priorities are to fix the jaw so it flows into the tufts of fur well..and to fix the seams between the fur and the face.

Here is a comparison between my Spaz model and jonnys human model i started with !

Noticed the Models topic allready?

Wow! Didn't know Milkshape was that good! If Mislkshape is like that, then MED is really stupid! I use MED... (Model Editor Dsomething).
Please take a look at the Models Topic from time to time, ok? Thank you!

Milkshape can so pretty much anything a basic modeler needs, and covers more model formats than most other modelers...and its pretty cheap !
For video tutorials check here....by the way i havnt seen your thread yet.

Is that my imagination, or is his left arm a bit shorter than the other?

(especially in the second picture)

Other than that, it's fine.

EDIT:

And DarkJazz' thread is in the future of jazz forum, he somehow forgot to put it in Art it seems.

Ok I got the poly count down to 995 and fixed a few little graphical bugs...Ive now got to add a few more polys so animating will be neater and then texture him...before finally animating...wow this is a very different world to me !

p.s. The arm was fixed, the polys filled in on the tufts of fur, the body was shrunk a little as he looked very slightly to 'adult' in my earlier post.

Another pic, this a shiny render of our untextured hero.

Fur is difficult due to the face that it increases the polycount hugely, im going to se if i can do without modeling to much more fur and just texure it on.

What im worried about at the mo is the back of jazz, especially the head, im just not sure its quite right, what do you think ?

I could but every poly is a risk of slowing down the game...tell you what...I may make a high poly version after this, just a few aditions you could set in the options menu.

By the way, are any of you out there good with art packages?...and if so could you have a bash at making Spaz's fur?
This is one of the pics im using to get inspiration, just so you can see what the fur looks like.
http://www.unseenconcept.net/JazzJackRabbit/OEMExit.jpg
Thanks people!

-EDIT-
Well i was dying to see how he would look so i put him in game with a plain red texture, the shadows worked well as usual, and with a bit of gun repositioning he was ready !

Whatever happened to Noogy and his site anyway? Oh and emailing Epic telling them that you've used their IP will get you a cease and desist warning or something of the like. Not really a good idea.

May I suggest everyone who's gonna make textures to make them in an as high resolution if possible? That way they won't be all blurry and such ingame.
