See, I don't consider that a "furry" drawing as such, but a realistic one.

Furry is Anthropomorphic. That picture isn't of animals that are similar to humans, like standing on their hind-legs and looking like humans.

Those are just Animals.

Very good picture, though.

No need to speak
Just let it be
Carry out this wish for me let nothing interfere

Rise to submission
I'm still beneath in the soil

Discard your clothes
Let loose you hair
We're intertwined forever and have always been
Say the word
And I'll depart
Upon your lips dwells nothing but the meaning of my cause

And so comes the dark
Vibrant as ever before
Flowers already withered

Didn't look close enough at the picture, don't worry.

And hey, if you wanna do that sorta quality art, all it takes is practice. Don't be afraid to venture into new things.

To me that just looks like two dogs. One with a bandana and the other with a little speedo-looking-thing. One with exuberant fangs.. that's all.

Pretty long fingers they have, for just normal dogs.
Oh, wait. They have five fingers, just like humans.

Same here, the fingers are almost impossible to see. They just look like two dogs, albeit dogs wearing clothes.

His torso width and arm shape are completely human, ditto the rest of their bodies; his chest "height" would have to be almost doubled to be animalistic, non-anthro legs cannot be stretched out like human legs can so this pose would be pretty much impossible,... That and, well, they're wearing clothes. *g*

To tell you the truth, the same is with me: only mine is a result of mental "imperfections". As a result, I suck at figuring out subtle expressions and my social life has taken several tumbles because of this "flaw". I also cannot read body language worth a darn (Part of the reason that my standerd pose for anything I draw looks kind of... bland and stiff-legged. Next time you look at my stuff, you've got to realise that that's the way I stand ordinarily.). That's the main reason I like cartoons, they have obvious expressions that are easy to identify, and everything is literal and makes sence to aspies like me.

That has to be the most childish thing anybody could have said. Seriously, Moonblaze, do you think I am jealous of somebody who can do furries at all? Furries become an obsession, and it is almost SAD to know that some people would rather be an anthro than a (-)g human. Furries are the ugliest things I've ever seen. People who wish they were furries tend to have a really sad social life, ONLY hanging around with other people who wish they were furries. Some furries are cool, but when you become so madly obsessed that you wish you were an anthropomorphic cat, things just get out of hand. I'd rather be a human, than be a human wishing I was something else. Oh, and when you start to draw yiff, I'll know how crazy you really are. It's not "strange" and "scary". It's (-)g disgusting.
"I don't really like the looks of a human either. if I could choose what I am I'd want to be an anthropomorphic cat."
I find that pretty funny, actually.

On the thing about how it's painted: If I was jealous of THAT, I'd have to heavily criticize Wild Angels work just to get even for her being SO GOOD. How did she get so good? PRACTICE. There is learning involved, but the majority of it is practice. Atleast portraits aren't the only things she paints/draws. I do my own art. I have no jealousy for a furry.

Yes, I know you were joking. But you gave me the excuse to write all that. I saw it coming around the (-)g corner.

I know other people who are furries, but they don't wish they were actually furries. Atleast they're somewhat sane.

Go ahead, hate me for trying to criticize work. If it's YOUR work I'm criticizing, it isn't because I hate you, and it isn't because I'm jealous.

I'm eagerly awaiting the flaming for this. Bring it. If you hate me for this, good. It's not like I regret saying it.

I did and yes I have. ;P Ever stuck human clothes on a dog when you were six years old? Ever sprayed a dog with hair colour during halloween? Yeah. Oh and to me that looks brown, not yellow. Human beings are the most sensual things. And when you see yourself do you think, 'oh, another hairless-ape?' No. [Then you'd have oversized lips, two inch strands of hair coming from every little pore of your body, and you'd most likely be crouched on the floor and scrubbing your head at yourself in a mirror while making awkward sounds] You see yourself as what you see yourself as, that being good or bad. I see myself as a thermos *sp?*, cold as an artic winter on the outside, warm and comforting on the inside.

Que Passa!!!!

I'm a bit reluctant to ask this, but I feel I really must:

What about those of us who just like to draw cartoons?!?

True, I draw what I like to call "Talking animal" strips(I myself don't see why I should call them furry, when talking animals works just fine), but I also draw humans, robots, monsters, gargoyals, plants, flowers, aliens- heck, I could probably make a decent cartoon character out of any random nicknack you could find on the ground.
And yet, I DO do realistic stuff: especially for fantasy's and dream sequances(I like to make the stuff that is not real look more realistic then the stuff that is. It's kind of like the majority of my childhood life.) However, I can't crank out realistic stuff in the middle of babysitting my cousins. I can't crank out realistic stuff in the moment that I have to take something hurtful that happened to me and put a funny spin on it. I can't crank out realistic stuff in the 5 minuites time I have before dinner. And in reality, I do not see drawing realistically as being very practical for an autistic such as myself to be doing when I can't keep my attention conscentrated long enough to do anything other then sketches.
I have a painting in my basement that I did in grade school of a still life boque of flowers with a stuffed bunny nearby. It's about the same quality as most of the realistic artists here. I never show it off, you know why: because, while it IS something I'm proud of, it isn't something I really enjoyed doing at the time.
I never really wanted to be like any of the stuff I draw. Quite the contrary: the stuff I draw reflects the way I feel like I am. At times, my life resembles a slapstick comic strip. However, I often go through life noticing what hypocrites and bigots people are in this so-called enlightened sociaty. I have to tell some people, yet everyone is so stuck up that they would probably kick my butt, all the while yelling at me to accept the status quo. The main reason I've always wanted to draw comics was to make a medium that was easier to digest, and the fact that I draw animals is because... It's always funnier when it happens to an animal since they are considered incapable of such opinions.
What I'm saying is: what about the guy who just wants to have fun and convey a message through art? Isn't that what it's all about anyway- It's not about how good you are, what techniques you use, or what subject matterial you have! It's not even about IMPROVMENT, unless the artist want's it to be.

I wasn't going on about that. Sorry if you misunderstood me, I was explaining why I didn't have anything to be jealous of in the picture Unciaa posted.

If you draw furries, or talking animals, fine! I never meant anything bad on THAT topic. It's when you get so obsessed with furries that it starts to rule your life... Drawing furries is fine, but if you're so madly obsessed to the point where you wish you were an "anthropomorphic cat", you've gone too far.

If I didn't like anybody who drew furries, I wouldn't like many people.

...I for one wouldn't mind being Superman.

Everyone has fantasies of being someone they aren't. Don't deny people the fantasies, even if they seem childish. They are inspiring, and without them, some people wouldn't be able to live. There would be no hope.

Or I'm just exaggerating. Whatever.

Well, ok... I forgot about such fantasies... But still, furry fandom seems to rule some peoples lives. I wouldn't expect many people to run around pretending they're superman unless they were a bit younger... And your dreams of being Superman don't rule your life, do they Cobra?

Maybe I'M just exaggerating. But some of these furries are very VERY sad people.

So does Star Trek for some trekkies. So do soap opera characters for some fans of those. I'd be most interested in you pointing out a fandom [or any part of the human society really] where you don't have those overobsessed with some or another aspect of it. So being obsessed with football, soccer, cars, politics or somesuch is fine because 'normal' people do it, but other interests are not? My dad commits at least as much time to following and discussing sports as I do furry.
And to paraphrase 2, whatever you may think of the fandom, at least we're not out there shooting people and raping babies .

Furries = Furries.

Realistic > Furries.

Geez, why don't we all shut up already and draw what you want to draw. Simply don't get totally obsessed with non-real things, especially since you KNOW you will never become a "furry". Imagination is important, but do you think everything imagined will happen? No.

Therefore,

Furries ≈ Furries

"So does Star Trek for some trekkies."

Agreed.

"Nemesis, go and read a bit about the fandom and you'll understand the point of wanting to be e.g. a fox or a wolf"

I have, believe it or not. That doesn't mean I LIKE it. And I don't have to like it, and I'm not saying you guys have to not like it.

But from where I stand, I'm not jealous of such people, and I never will be. That's what my post was all about.

"Btw Nemesis, would you like Micky Mouse in human form instead?"

Nah. But I've never seen Mickey Mouse in any sexually suggestive cartoons or pictures. These days, there's a lot of yiff out there. It is kinda disgusting. Sure, I've never heard of Pho, as an example, drawing yiff. She might. I know not ALL furs are like what I said.

"And to paraphrase 2, whatever you may think of the fandom, at least we're not out there shooting people and raping babies . "

Too bad if you're a psychotic fur with a gun who can't handle the fact that there are people like me in the world.

Now, to the POINT.

Moonblaze's post suggested that I was jealous of these people and their art. I explained why I have nothing to be jealous of. I mean, seriously, why would I be jealous of someone who gets turned on by a dogs head on a human-like body? Besides, if I wanna be a fur, I'll be a fur. The only reason I'm not is because I'm not into that sorta ****.

This will be my last post here, because Megumi wants the thread done for.

'Twas nice chattin'.

Erm, obsessing a bit much?
I think Moonblaze's comment referred to the same thing we were all refering to- the quality of the painting. The attention to detail, fall of light, everything. That appreciation had little to nothing to do with the actual subject, that was just the catalyst. Moonblaze made a joke, a joke you apparently misunderstood and went into a full-blown rant... Alright, even if you're not jealous, regardless of relevance, what does that have to do with people obsessing with anthropomorphics? Or finding them sexually appealing? Or you NOT finding them sexually appealing?

You're behaving like a guy who had someone make a comment along the lines of "so what do you think of that guy?" to, going into a long anti-gay rant just to affirm your manhood and prove that you are NOT "one of them".
Chill. We get it. You're not. Moving on.

Yes, I realise that you were commenting on the quality of the picture. Not all "jokes" are taken lightly, especially when you're on the recieving end of it.

I was actually keeping that rant held in for a while. I felt like adding that to my comments. I mean, seeing as it is so obvious, and always has been, that you all hate me, I felt like revving you all up a little. Looks like that's what I did. Besides, I'm getting sick of getting (-) from you people when I try criticize something. Can't you handle it? Gotta go cry to mummy because I said something negative? Wah. Yeah, I know you all hate me. I bet you wonder why I still hang around. I'm wondering the same thing. Oh well.

I did ALSO mention that I'm not jealous of the picture. I do my own art. I've learnt NOT to be jealous of other peoples artistic talent.

Let me taste
Let me feel
I need to know what you keep inside
No need to speak
Just let it be
Carry out this wish for me let nothing interfere

Rise to submission
I'm still beneath in the soil

Discard your clothes
Let loose you hair
We're intertwined forever and have always been
Say the word
And I'll depart
Upon your lips dwells nothing but the meaning of my cause

And so comes the dark
Vibrant as ever before
Flowers already withered
In this endless winter of souls

This went from a discussion about what type of art people liked to a debate over sexual attractions to anthropomorphic animals...

I love it when threads change topics like this. It makes things more interesting. And do those dog-like-things in the picture Unciaa posted have cloths on...?

Exactelly.

I did never care if Nemesis liked furries or not, but I'd not agree when he said "They're just animals".
I respect Nemesis as he is, even he hates us all. ;P

I never expect anybody to agree. Not many people on this forum DO agree with my views.

I never said I hate any of you.

But I won't call you friends. You wouldn't agree with my if I said I was your friend.

Apologies to anybody offended. Hey, this gave me some satisfaction atleast. You misunderstand, though, I don't hate all furries. I have friends who ARE furries. They don't exactly AGREE with my views, but they also don't give a ****.

Also, about yiffi Furry stuff, I *dared* ask someone who drew things like that why.

Why do you need to create those images of creatures suffering?

It dissipates some bad karma. I am human, with all its defects that infers. It would be a big lie if I were to deny that the ideas in those images have not recurred in my mind.
Strange as it may sound, this is catharsis for my soul. By putting those images onto paper, I purge dark feelings from my mind. Victimizing someone or being someone else's victim is not a situation I would like to find myself. Unless it were a play, a game between consenting adults.
