Description

When I have started recording part of lyrics I wrote down some time ago, I thuoght why not finish it myself in form I had on mind? Eggman’s version is techno, while this here is appearently rap, or maybe even hip-hop. His version has a load more effects and is generally more “powerful”, but this one has all the lyrics I wrote, ordered in their original way (so they actually DO rhyme). Here are the lyrics:

[humming] Okay, let’s go! Hey yo, welcome in the Turtemple, dawg! Yo ready fo’ some sand adventure? Ah. Yo, yo. (Yo, yo.) Come on, come on! That’s right!

The sun is shining, wish it wasn’t so d**n high, It’s so freaking hot that you would eventually die. In the sands of this planet there are churches deep inside, Temples growing dust, enormous, high and wide, Chants moaning in the desert’s sandstorms And you begin to wonder where are all the sandworms, Quicksands and stones, and even lava flowing, There are tracks in the sand, do you wonder where they’re going?

Scorpions bite your feet, still in pain you have to duck, Turtles profane their own statues, try to hit your back. Gods of the war sadly always are misunderstood All those idiots fight the visitors, believing grantly each one would Become the saint, In thoughts they see a mount of gold, a TV show and silver statue And now you see what does Turtemple mean, The reason’s all for fight, so they can catch you!

The sun is shining, wish it wasn’t so d**n high, It’s so freaking hot that you would eventually die. In the sands of this planet there are churches deep inside, Temples growing dust, enormous, high and wide, Atmosphere’s so thick and the water is so rare, No plants so far, hey, go further, will you dare? The place is tuff, ‘cause opportunities assemble, The true sandy hell, that you can call Turtemple!

[humming] Jazz Jackrabbit!

Atmosphere’s so thick and the water is so rare, No plants so far, hey, go further, will you dare? The place is tuff, ‘cause opportunities assemble, The true sandy hell, that you can call Turtemple! Rolling rocks, that fall right from the sky, Parts of some cliffs, maybe temples, maybe… nay, Riplled air, at least no trees make clearer vision. I can’t see any lake, man, this place is a submission!

Radical change comes suddenly in the night Fifty degrees colder, your organism can’t stand it right, Sandstorms so fast, never meeting an obstacle, they can rip your flesh from bones, what you’ll feel is ain’t a tackle. Camps so obscure, they are almost unnoticable, Turtles rest inside, your eyes better not be too unreliable. They’ve got hoverboards, so you better have one too, Turtemple is unfair… yo!

[scratching]

And now, a special news report from the native lifeform!

The place is just one neverending desert, You go all the way and everything seems the same, You see a building and then all you’ve got is ruins, It’s all so dull that places here dun have a name. And ever since Turtle Terrorists came here I haven’t seen my best friend Catherine… That’s right, I was born on Turtemple, I was raised on Turtemple Yet I still rest the case that life here isn’t simple!

Turtemple! [echo fade]

The true sandy hell, that you can call Turtemple!

Introduction:
This is what happens when someone from the Sonic Adventure generation takes a stab at a Jazz Jackrabbit song.

Song Analysis:
The lyrics are pretty good and fairly well sung. The song itself is pretty much the same ol’ Turtemple theme, but with square waves and triangle waves instead of actual real samples.

Sample Analysis:
As mentioned, square and triangle waves were used most of the song. Some real-sounding drums, a “fly-by” sound from Star Control II, and a couple others sounds were thrown in for the Heck of it, apparently. Let me be the first to tell you. . .if you’re going to go with real lyrics, don’t use freaking square and triangle waves. Compose a beautiful piece of music, by hand, using some real samples. Okay? Okay.

Final Analysis:
Ya know. . . This would be an absolutely freaking awesome Sonic Adventure-style song. . .if you hadn’t used Famicom-style samples for the background music! You fail!! 3.2 out of 10.0!!! This is also an insult to Jazz Jackrabbit fans. As mentioned above, get yourself a real arrangement of Turtemple, then add the lyrics in. Once you do, I can almost gaurentee I will give you a very high score, depending on the quality of the arrangement. Your heart’s in the right place. Really. But focus on the music, not the lyrics. . .

I do not recommend this file for download on the grounds that, even though it has sung lyrics, the lyrics are meaningless with the quality of music behind it.
