Hey, this is my first Level i ever made!
OK? I know it’s not the best :)))
But…so bad? I find it …. ok.
Music: it’s not Special! That’s right.
And on this Level i would test the JCS !

Quit this :P The last thing we need is discussions in level review pages. It’s the author his own choice if he wants to add something.

hehe just hear Stiletto trying to be smart: “There’s no eyecandy”. EVERY lvl has eyecandy except this eyecandy is pretty bad. next time when u review don’t try to use stuff which u don’t understand.
Just practice making lvls, Tobi. If u use a standard tileset look at the 1p levels, how they used the tileset. Just keep building and u’ll get better.
First levels often are bad, so I think it’s sucky to give it a rating. [This review has been edited by $TÛNT$]

Well first of all, in making your first level I would recommend not using a custom tileset, because they are often consisting of 1 useful tile or very hard to use, thus making it harder to make a good level with them.
Second, this is your first level, so you have not yet mastered (ahum) jcs and that makes it a little predictable in what the rating will be, because there are always people better at making levels, but nevertheless, this level is bad, it uses tiles meant for background in the level, has unfinished walls, tiles just placed somewhere in the level and (i think I really know what it is) bad eyecandy.

My advice to improve: try a lot before you go uploading and publishing levels, because you need the practice… (we all did at first).

Hehe, despite its of german origin, this won’t become my favourite level. Blade’s “Beton” tileset is a good choice, but it’s not recommended for a first level i guess :-) Well, the tile placement is quite horrible and a design is pretty much non-existant. At least Tobi tried to put music (which i don’t like too much though, dull techno sound doesn’t turn me on).

Overall, i really think you should practice and try around a bit more, Tobi, to slowly develop your JCS skills so that one day, we’ll see some great levels from you! Viel Glück! :-)

Well, I’m not going to rate this, because for one thing I’ll take everyone’s word that it’s bad and not lower your score anymore :)

Has anyone considered maybe giving folks a grace-period if their first levels suck? I mean just because they’ll probably get over that by level 3 (if they try) and because otherwise you’re just lower the score for what may end up to be a wonderful creator. Just a thought.

Anyway, Tobi, I’d just like to encourage you as well to keep on trying. It’s very important that you hang in there. First levels are typically poor, so don’t feel bad at all. I can tell you all right now, if I hadn’t recieved extensive help from a couple of people when I was making my first level, it would be butt ugly :p (I know because I remember it before I sought help ;)

Heh, I still make lousey levels NOW :) I’ve got a CTF level here that is solid, complete, made good use of the tileset, is fully functional, and about the suckiest CTF level I’ve ever seen in my life.

Point is Tobi, you’ll probably throw out a few stinkers even when you have a full grasp of JCS, so don’t feel bad about that. The important thing now is to concentrate on simply learning to create levels well in a technical sense. Then worry about how good the levels are design-wise. I’d suggest making a few throw-away levels just to test various JCS elements to get the hang of them.

And also, the download wasn’t a total loss…I didn’t have the tileset before and I actually kinda liked the music :)

Buster I have to say I disagree and to avoid a discussion Ill keep this short.

If you upload a level to j2o you will get it rated and if the level is bad, no matter how long you are using jcs or the howmaniest level it is.

It should be that way and it should stay that way.

If you are not yet experienced then dont upload yet.

From what all you guys say I wont downlaod it but I allready know i’ll give this level something under a two… Huh?! censored?! hey! why can’t you rate levels as 0?! >=( no offense tobi =p

What can i say? The level is horible, the music does`nt fit and the tileset is`nt included in the zip.

I had to spend a few hours finding the darn tileset, and it wasn’t at all worth it.
The fact the level works does not make up for horrid eyecandy.
