Firstly, I would like to thank EvilMike for his amazing discovery. Well, now for the comments. This is MY FIRST TILESET!!! Yes, you heard me, ALL THOSE YEARS AGO this is what I made, and I was so proud of myself. Everyone hated it, just about everyone, it looked so ugly, but for me it was beautiful, it was perfect, like only a mother could love her child, is how I love this set. In some strage, strange way, I still prefer this one above Darkened Landscape. Ah yes, the memories this brings back wipes off a little tear forming in his eye. Ok enough of that. To be hnest, the tileset sucks, one of the worst n00b tilesets there is, but heck, it was loads of fun making ;)
@stijn
yea it looks a bit ugly though
its bit too much ms-painty| which is
not good the background hurts my eyes
the thing i like its a bit nice to be your
first tileset but there are new sets which are
best than ever :)
to be nice i give u a 4.7 good luck with new sets :D
Original Blood is Disguise first tileset. but is very average tileset.
First- A lot of RED and BLACK. This is, like Krezack’s review- hurt my eyes. You can do the blood in more red colors. and- A lot of bones, skuuls and another ugly eyecandy objects. I like dark tilesets! but this make me feel (i don’t know the meaning of this word in english, i understand hebrew)
Rating: 6
Download? Depend on you!
This shows even Disguide can make ugly sets :P. The set is small, and looks very “MS-Painty”. It has the same evil eyes as the “Darkened Landscape” set, weird spikes (only 5 pixels high), some little bones, some big bones, weird yellow caves which don’t fit too good in the black/red layout of the set, tubes, Something weird (ah, now I see. It’s a spider web), vines, arrows, stuff to make platforms from, and some things I can’t find the “meaning” of. I think it would be unfair to give this higher than a 3,5, because I gave several 3,5s to tilesets with the same quality. The minor setback is the quality. It looks very painty and that’s bad. Well, that’s it. Now skip to the next review..
To FQuist: I don’t have a book with ratings inside ;)[This review has been edited by Fl@$h aka BlewMeUp]
I’ve seen much worse first tilesets!
Much, much worse :)
The eyecandy is not that great, but what’d you expect from a first tileset?
It has most of the standard tiles tough, and even eyecandy decorations and a second platform type. You can’t say that of many early tilesets. ;p
There are forgotten tiles tough, there are no diagonal tiles with a yellow bg(the yellow bg this tileset contains is unmasked and for use in layer 4) and there are no H-poles.
Now, the background is funny, but because it uses the same color as the foreground, there is too little contrast between the fore and background. I don’t know how the author should have solved it, because it adds to the mood too. Maybe make it another kind of dark, just a little bit different from the foreground. The eyes should have been a darker red.
The masking is pretty okay, tough the diagonal tiles are quite useless because you can’t walk up. This is a masking bug. One of the little masking bugs there are, if there are any except this one.
For the rest, well, this is a newbie set. :)
Tough I have to say, at least it has a theme and isn’t as bad as many other tilesets around. If it had a bit more texture, and some more shading(shading is nonexistant :)) it might have gotten a 6.5 or a 7, depending on the quality, but I’ll go with a 5 now. In my book a 5 means effort has been put into the tileset, but it still doesn’t have very good eyecandy.

Cool. Why couldn’t I have thought of all those ideas while making my Halloween tileset? :P

Eh this is a Disguise tileset? Man, Disguise has come a LONG way. Still, back in J2C this would’ve got a fairly high rating. It has an MS-Paintish feel to it, probably cause it was done in Ms Paint. ;)
Still, for his first tileset I’d say it is pretty good.
I quite like it actually guys…
I always rate tilesets by not just eye candy, but originality, and effort in tiles, the difference between this tileset and the improved version, is that it has more of a variaty in tiles, it has spider webs, and bones, and big bones, A plant with a mouth, a few spikes ( could do with some blood on them ;P ), and the funny thing is, I like the eyes in this set, more than the other set, they are more evil :p
The other thing I like about this tileset is that it has diagal ceiling tiles, which the upgraded tileset didn’t have, making it look more squary :p This tileset has heaps of little extra things that make this tileset, better ( not in eye candy ) than the upgraded version of this,
1- it has arrows, unlike the other
2- more decoration tiles
3- cavey tiles ( even though they’re yellow :p )
4- has a hooks
I wish that there were some V or H poles in the set though :p Neither has any!
Actually, it’s tons better than a true n00b set. So.. yes.
Not enough possibility to make a good level with this.. It doesn’t have enough good tiles.
C’mon guys dont be so harsh ;P
For a MS paint tileset, it isnt that bad, to quote Fquist, ive seen worse, far far worse. Even though, im not in the “blood” type style, and its good u have PSP 7, i still dont sob**sniff**sob
Like i said many many many times before, it isnt that bad, although i cannot really reccomend this to anyone either. Especially 7 year olds who happen to be browsing around J2O >;P
