Time for the Blade tileset #13 :)
Fortress of Forgotten Souls is an extensive tileset with 1010 tiles to work with. Huge fortresses and their dark surroundings are at your disposal!
Read more about the tileset in the Readme file in this package and of course at “The Strange Tales of Blade”, the blog that explains a lot about Fortress development process :)
I had high expectations for this tileset and it turned out even better than I thought it would be. It’s a very hard to use tileset, but luckily it comes with a good example level that showcases everything that can be done with it. This is one of the best tilesets I have seen in ages.
I always loved Blade’s Cartoonish drawing style in his tilesets. This one does the same thing, but is drawn even more professionally. This could be the best tileset from 2008, and I can say it is already one of the best ever made. And don’t forget the size, you can’t make much more tiles in an 1.23 tileset! Hopefully this will be actively used!
Good job!
This is so funny. Giving out 10s used to be a common thing a while back, people’s standards became higher and it leveled off. Now standards are really high and yet uploads are getting well justified 10s. I can’t find a single thing wrong with this set and it just looks awesome, nothing could possibly be added to enhance it.
So Blade’s new tileset is finally released, since I’ve been away from JJ2 for months it seems to come much quicker than I thought. Anyway, this is a masterpiece. If only it was a little easier to use, I would have rated it higher.
It doesn’t have vikings :( but still it’s a very great tileset that comes with cool example levels :D
Best tileset ever!
This tileset is just really good. It’s super hard to build with, but if you put time into a level, it’ll look amazing. 9.5 works for this.
@Good Job!@

Bad Tile Set,
The tileset lights little…
Awesome tileset! Great job Blade! :)
It’s looking very good. I like it.
very good tileset!
Removed original heavy-handed comment, and re-rated pack at 7.
Don’t bring up the now-dead subject of my heavy-handedness again, please, for everyone’s sake.
Wait, I seriously misread this as The Fortres of Forgotten Socks and was like omg?
Other than that, seems like a great tileset yes though a little confusing.
Looks marvellous from the screenshots. I give you an AAA (10)!
Wow! This tileset simply blew me away!
Here’s your stats, since I bothered to put them here:
Eyecandy:
Beautiful! All the tiles fit together, various landscapes to use, and best of all, it feels like your really there!
Useability:
Could prove some challenge for a beginner to use well in a level, but to someone who knows the field, this is a tileset of mass awesomeness.
Creativity:
Honestly, not that bad. Though I’ve seen more creative tilesets than this, your use of every-day tiles was amazing!
All-Around:
This tileset has everything, in a unique and interesting way! Chain hooks and vines, broken walls, and multiple kinds of background make this a tileset for the win!
I hope this gets as high a rating as I give it. 9.7 My man!
There’s no way I’m giving this level less than 10. Actually I consider it 11/10. This is the best level I’ve ever played. Tileset is awesome as well as the music you chose for it. I enjoyed finding secrets and coins. Also if I was careful enough i could pick up everything. Seemed like trying to get 100% items and enemies like in Jazz 1.
[This is a tileset, not a level. Thus the only content in your review is “tileset is awesome” and that’s just not good enough. ~Violet]
