Need help once more: Ping.

Alright. Ever since my dad bought a new SMC7004VBR router my jj2 was sucking. I couldnt host or join. After, I was able to host servers, but when trying to join them they would all ping/I would CTO after 30s. I put the port stuff in the administrative setup configuration in the NAT category (I wasnt sure whether JJ2 went under VIrtual Server or Special Applications so I tried both). I still wasnt able to join. BlurredD told me to get a new firewall, so I got Zonealarm, enabled it, and turned off my router firewall. I was able to join servers (although on some occasions I would often recv 0 baud therefore lag), but when I tried hosting them the servers always pinged. Now I disabled Zonealarm and enabled my router firewall, but I cant host now, so I dont think switching back between the two would work. I would greately appreciate input on this, since it is JDC season and I want to be able to participate in it ;(.

My OS is Win2k, the router is SMC7004VBR. I have two computers currently running under it (mines and my dads), I read the manual for it and it didnt seem to help much. Nimrod suggested I post the topic here so I did. So can I get this fixed? or will I have to live with pinging servers/not being able to join =(.

I also use an SMC router, and this is what works for me. In Special Applications, configure it like this:

That's all I use (nothing in Virtual Server), and I can both host games and join games. You may not even need the port range for Public Port - just 10052 should work as well.

Try it with them separately then. I gave you a configuration that works for me, so it would be beneficial to try it instead of saying it won't work because you tried something else that was almost the same.

erm...sorry if my post implied that I didnt try it, but I did. Same result as before. And yeah, I tried opening ports 10052-10057 as well and still no cigar.

You're able to host games properly though?
Is the router firewall turned on? (If it is, try turning it off)
Do you have any firewall software on your computer? (Again, try turning them all off)

I should make a diagnostic tool for JJ2. It would be helpful for pinpointing the problem in these situations.

No, I was able to host before and not join with the router firewall, now I cant seem to do both.
I have a Zonealarm firewall currently (the free version), I can turn it off and switch between the two, but the only one that currently allows me to play jj2 is Zonealarm (although it results in me having pinging servers).
I am pretty sure Zonealarm and the router wall is the only thing I have, but I'll doublecheck again anyways.
