Hay what was your favorite music to listen to when playing jj2?
I remember it was filter and some of the mods.

the one in the **** tileset levels.
Derby: Filter bypass clearance. Bypassing the filter remains unacceptable for all cases. The replacement made is acceptable.

@ JJ Tublear: I think Espio meant the original JJ2 music and not some hiphop records you listened to with MP3 or something while playing JJ2. But that's just my opinion.
@ Derby: This is just a question, but why is **** a bad word? We learned that in our English lesson (really) ![]() Derby: Filter bypass clearance. Although "bad" is relative, it is in the filter that is never to be bypassed. You cannot bypass it without violating the guidelines, and that applies to your violation in the question itself, as well.

My favorite music is Funkyg.s3m. They used it in the levels "Purple Haze Maze" and "Funky Grooveathon". The tilesets in JCS are Psych 1 and 2 (you know the ones with the Cheshire Cats?)

Here is my overall rating of the JJ2 music:
Castle: 7.0 A solid track fits very well. Not my favourite tough. Carrotus: 6.5 This one fits well to the set but I don't really like it. Labrat: 6.2 I'm starting to hate the labrat music as I heard it so often. Fits well tough. Colon: 6.7 Nice music, not great but it's decent. Psych: 7.2 Crazy music I think. It fits to the tileset very well. And I like crazyness. ![]() Beach: 6.7 Fits very well. Not my favourite track. Sea: 8.0 I love this music track, it fits amazingly well and it's different from most other tracks from JJ2. Diamondus: 6.0 I don't like this one. The original one was ages better. TubeElectric: 7.0 This one fits to the tileset very well, but I miss a part of the original track which was my favourite. Medivo: 7.0 This one doesn't have anything to do with the original. Doesn't mean it's bad. But it could've been a bit more near to the original. Jungle: 6.7 Good music, but I listened to it way too often so I can't hear it anymore. Ice: 7.0 Cool music. Sounds very frosty Hell: 8.5 My favourite one. I just love it. ****: 6.2 Decent track, could've been better tough. Boss: 6.7 Solid boss music, fits well. Boss2: 6.5 Also fits well, but I think the first one is better. Oh, forgot TSF: Easter: 6.0 Very bad music ![]() Sounds very happy. Haunted House: 6.7 I like this one. It fits very well also (as the most of the JJ2 musics does). Town: 7.0 Some time ago this one was my favourite. I don't like it as much as before now, but it's a solid track. So, I think that's all. If I forgot something tell me please. ![]()

That track you call 'sea' (water.j2b) is ripped from NES Metroid title theme.

What I meant by the mods as in the music file you could then take them and add them to the music levels and the only way someone could hear it is if they had it too, and quite a few people started to do it so then I just turned the music off and had winamp up or my mod player up.

You just need to play alotta games and have a keen ear for video game music.
As for myself, I throughly enjoyed all of the JJ2 music. Though occasionally I would play mod's or CD's if I grew tired of the music. =D

I just downloaded almost all tracks from Lori Central again... *sigh* Good times.
And having nothing better to do, I shall review them all! \o/ In perfectlly random order. Tubelectric Remix: 7.5 It's a well-done song with some pretty cool sounds, but gets boring after a while. The shrill guitar can be kinda annoying, too. Still pretty cool. Pull Back the Bass ( Credits ): 7.5 Neat song. No real flaws, but nothing really special, either. But nice to listen to. =3 Jungle Fevah v2.0: 7.5 Very well done, and the chanting in the beginning is definitely a plus! However, over time, I kinda grew tired of this song. =\ But being objective, it's still cool. Hippie Heaven: 6.5 Hate me, but I don't like it that much. It's pretty repetitive, and just not my style. Diamondus Remix: 7.7 Just cute. Xb COULD have been done better indeed, but oh well, I liked it a lot back then. Jazz Boss tune 1: 8.0 Okay, it's short, it's repetitive, but I love it. ^_^ TEH DRAMATICNESS!! Labratory Level: 8.2 For some period of time, I used to hate this. But then I listened more closely and realized how cool this track really is! The laboratory effects are awesome and the main melody is just great. Medieval Jam: 9.0 I loved this to no end back then, and I still do. ^^ Nothing beats well-placed bag-pipes. A medievalish track could never be more awesome and groovy at the same time than this. White Hare: 7.5 It's nice and has some good parts, but overall, it's not something I'd listen to if I had the choice. Jazz be ****** ( The cursed place Jazz and Devan have their last battle in ): 8.7 It's dramatic, it's got e-guitars and a good rythm. Just perfect. Really gives the idea of a cursed dungeon, the most inner circles of hell, etc. Dark Groove ( Hell, hot ): 9.5 It's. Simply. Beautiful. It catches a sadness that can make one shiver when playing the level it's used in and seeing one of those trees with the faces on them... ( I've always imagined those as being lost souls caught in a tree of hell. Shudder. ) Hell Freezes Over (Hell, cold =P ): 8.2 It's not quite as awesome the hot part, but still has a nice feeling of drama and sadness. In this one, there's also a kind of happy, maybe hopeful part. Pretty nice. =3 Jazz Castle: 7.0 Wellllll... I never really liked it much. But it isn't a bad track, either.. just.. too.. monotone. Seriously. Colonius Level 1: 8.2 I don't know why, but I used to really love this track. =b It has a cool beat indeed. Simply groovy. Carrotus: 7.7 Also groovy, but not really my taste for some reason. But worth listening to nonetheless... I guess I just got tired of it over the years. XP Fast Track: 7.0 Fast. Uhm. Yes. But nothing outstanding at all. Water Level: 8.0 Nice and relaxing... a little bit too relaxing maybe, there's n outstanding point in it.. but it's pretty nonetheless. Beach Bunny: 7.2 Another track I got sick of. Although it does have a few nice parts. ..lessee if I can find some more tracks.. maybe in Haze's Hideout... *lurks off* Derby: Major filter bypass clearance. Let the filter do its work.

I love all Jazz Jackrabbit music.
Beach Bunny! (beach level) (2:04) 6.5 - Nice, over-average track. Pull Back the Bass (exit screen) (3:18) 9.5 - Everything here is awesome. Jazz 2 Bonus Stage (jazz1 bonus remix) (1:45) 8.0 Jazz Boss tune 1 (0:57) 9.0 - Love it everybody! Carrotus (1:51) 7.0 Colonius Level 1 (2:00) 7.0 Jazz be ******(2:17) 8.0 Diamondus Remix (2:28) 9.0 - Better than original Allen's version. Finale (outro) (1:13) 8.5 - I love those great famfares... Fast Track (3:11) 7.0 Hell Freezes Over (1:52) 8.0 - Has great melody, good tempo. Hippie Heaven (1:55) 7.0 - Typical Happy Hippy song. Jazz Belmont (1:55) 7.5 Dark Groove (part 1) (4:05) 7.5 Jazz Intro (0:36) 8.0 - Fast, cool, happy kick-*** tune. Jaz27 (title screen) (1:48) 9.0 - Original was better, this sounds empty, slowly, but has the best melody in the world... Jaz30 (0:46) 7.5 Jazz Castle (2:24) 7.5 - Jazz 3 has better castle tune ;p Jungle Fevah v2.0 (3:49) 8.0 - Funky Melodic Tune with superbly used rhythm. Labratory Level (1:27) 8.0 Medivo (2:16) 7.5 Medival Jam (1:54) 8.0 Jazz 2 menu music (thanks god never released, originally meant to be in episode selecting) (1:21) 4.5 - From 0:37 to 0:54 there is some average melody, I know better bass tunes. rushsong.wma (0:22) 9.0 Tubelectric Remix (2:06) 9.0 - It could be better than original if that melodic piece wasn't replaced by beats. Water Level (3:01) 9.5 - Somebody said it's ripped from Metroid? OMG it's only slighty inspired. Three tones doesn't mean rip. One of the best ambient tunes ever. Xmas2 (2:14) 7.5 Derby: Content clearance. A filtered expression was filtered.

A comment in the original Water.s3m file says "Respects to Hip Tanaka", anyway. So there you go.

Dany, the six opening notes are the exact same as those from Metroid. That, plus the "Respects to Hip Tanaka" line in the file info is more than enough proof that the water theme was based on Metroid. You don't "accidently" copy a song and pay respects to the composer. Give it a rest.
