Lori/Spazz pedecessors?

I'm posting here because I don't know of any better forum.

Are these children the predecessors of Spazz and Lori?

And on an additional and totally unrelated note, I've discrened some of how the bonus levels work. They use 2D tiles and 2 forms of distortion to tun them into '3D' tiles. Objects are flat and merely increased in size.

I've also noticed that one of the hands of one of Jazz's animations appears to be incomplete, and the clouds of dust he makes when braking depend on the ground color.

I put all the bonus level stuff into this lil file: http://www.freewebs.com/gannalev/Bonus.zip

Yeah, the bonus levels seem to use mode 7, like the bonus stages in Sonic CD or various other games. The tiles used can be viewed using Wombat, which I've linked to a few times.

And I'll just link it again.

It looks like your zip file is broken, I can't open it.

Oh yes, I guess those aren't Lori/Spaz predecessors. I once read somewhere that spaz just came out of nothing when Nick Stadler once wanted to draw a really goofy picture of Jazz. And Lori was thought up completely by Dean Dodrill, and he had nothing to do with Jazz back then.

News Flash: The texture tiles for any game, 2D or 3D are 2d images.

Well, yeah. :P Today's games just manipulate lots and lots of flat 2D images to look 3D. It's just that today's video technology uses a different pipeline that really speeds up the calculations.

In short, you mean textures.. Newer game engines can show textures in many better ways then games like the Jazz3D-demo or Rayman2..

Maybe so but it's gameplay which counts.
