Playtime.

Hey guys. I had this little idea.

I started playing JJ2 again a few days ago and I ran into a couple of people I hadn't seen in a while. Now I had a lot of fun playing but it's such a shame to see that there are so few people there. Which is why I came up with this.

We could come up with a certain day/time a week in which we all get togheter and play for a bit. A certain individual could host up a server and we could all come up with the time. Even if it's only for an hour a week.

Are there people that would be interested in this and would think it's fun to do this? (Think of it as a mini AB.)

I think it's a great idea on paper, but actually getting it done might be harder. Nonetheless, I say go for it.

I was thinking of having a different person with a decent internet connection host a server every week at a certain day. It's only an idea so far but I thought it would be fun. It would also get more of us to play the game.
I'm glad to see that several of you have already shown interest.
Feel free to add to the idea. I'm sure we'll work something out together.

Hmm...I would come back, but nah. I still lurk the servers from time to time.

I'd come. I mean, as long as it was at a time I wasn't asleep/at school/ninjaing.

They would be nice, if they are successful.

Unfortunately I forsee theese events evetually either creating jj2 chat servers or will simply die off quickly from lack of interest.

well, 11 to 0, why wouldnt we, its a good idea (though I cant host, maybe in the near future, because our internet and router will be replaced, (and if i dont get to host jj2 than, there are some tech support guys (or girls) going to be deaf of my yelling over the phone ))

I agree. We could try and organize some small events (remember Blur's Well Tournament?) every once in a while, though.

While I think there would probably be interest, I'm afraid I can't see them working long-term. AB is important because it is a once-a-year thing. Mini-ABs would undermine an event that is already struggling to survive.

It isn't a bad idea at all, but it may be past its prime.

I don't think the ABs are struggling to survive despite less people participating since there have been lots of improvements already, such as Console, and varying gametypes. Also, the AB7 packs have been downloaded more than any of FS' uploads, if you look here: http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/dow...rUploadsID=579

In fact, they must be the most downloaded of all AB packs: http://www.jazz2online.com/J2Ov2/dow...esultSet=13465

Hehe, that's weird. I always used to think that AB5 was the more popular one.

Edit: Don't forget that the packs were also downloaded from Haze's Hideout, so it doesn't really count.

I'm myself not prepared for regular JJ2 events anymore and I like to play whenever I can rather than set specific time periods but I will support this if it ever comes into being. Don't think that I'm commiting myself, however, to actually playing in the game. ;P

What, unfortunately, Haze's Hideout has not managed to achieve is gain monopoly in community members (I just saw the site, and it's still actively updated, yet quite unappreciated in terms of news comments). People are far more likely to download the level packs from J2O than Haze's Hideout. Only by adding another 500 downloads, as well as the existing download counts on J2O, will you even get close to AB7's download count (note that AB7 is also hosted on Haze's Hideout ).

By the way, keep in mind that AB6 wasn't uploaded to the downloads section of J2O as well.
