Random CTO's and lost chat messages
Sometimes when I am playing JJ2 I will suddenly get no chat messages but the baud recv'd will not go to 0. About 5 minutes later the baud recv'd will go to 0 and I will recieve a CTO message. This is not 30 seconds or anything- I can play for about 25 minutes and suddenly that will happen. People also randomly CTO on my servers. I have forwarded ports 10052 to 10054 TCP and UDP on my CNet ADSL Ethernet Router and have no firewall.

From my knowledge, it just happens when there's a lot of traffic. It's normal for JJ2, but there might be something else blocking you, like a modem, in addition to your router. You might want to see if your modem has a Static NAT or IP passthrough, I have to use the latter with my modem to be able to connect to JJ2 games.

The router has a modem built in. I see NAT under the router configuration where I can add an IP there- is it safe however? I rely on the router's inbuilt firewall to block bad people and will those features still be active? Could someone explain what exactly NAT is? I'm no expert at this kind of thing :P
