CC2008: Epic fail?
Hi, everyone!
I am doing awesome in Berkeley, thanks for asking. In other news, what's up with this year's convention? If there is to be any chance of me going, I kind of need to know about it soon. It'd be a real shame if after several successful meetings we didn't have one at all this year. |

I can't make it this year, but it would be sad to think that nothing was happening period...

I might've come this year, but now that there's been so little organisation time has gotten thin and the chances have decreased considerably.

Looks like this is somewhat of a problem for most people involved. I've privately messaged a few people who usually come, and they all have said similar things.
Here's what I'd propose then. I'm in California at the moment, as is Velk. I am not 100% certain about this, but I believe Violet and his family are all around as well (unless you guys are gone for some reason?). Since a lot of people are in California (or around it), it seems to me that it would be a good idea to organize some sort of semi-impromptu mini-meeting. At the very least, we could all get together one day and go to some kind of attraction, have dinner, etc. Anyone near or in California (or otherwise able to come), please post here and let me know. It'd be a terrible shame to not at least do something this year. |

I'm also in California. I have a few suggestions if anyone wants. There is Six Flags, Marine World, San Francisco has a lot (I've never been there so forgive me if you have) L.A has some stuff, Santa Cruz has the beaches and Boardwalk (if we go in August, it would probably be a lot cheaper than any other place). Santa Cruz is probably the most likely option in my case, I also have camp in the beginning of August but I should be able to come before or after camp.

Ah, Blackfire! I forgot you were a California resident.
Quite sorry to hear that, V. <3 Well, I am no closer to organizing anything than I was a while ago, but I have a simple, cost-effective solution or two. Ideas: 1.) A LAN party. This would be fairly inexpensive, with the only potential costs being transportation and food. I imagine us all going to some eatery with free wi-fi and occupying the place for a while, though of course we could do it at a private residence or something instead. 2.) Santa Cruz. This is a cool area, and in close proximity to most of the people who would, in theory, be going. Not sure what we'd do there, but Blackfire officially volunteered to come up with ideas about 2 posts ago. 3.) Tourist traps! We could go to the SF Zoo, Marine World, etc, or alternatively just go occupy some touristy city like San Francisco for a while. 4.) Any suggestions? |

thanks Ninja...
I like Santa Cruz just because it's the most affordable and doable thing at this point. (Elliot and Tachyon also live in Santa Cruz)
