JJnet Duel Tournament 1.0
JazzJackrabbit.net and "the crew" is organizing a CTF duel-tourney. There will be prices for the top 3 players (specially designed T-shirts). If the player belongs to a clan, that clan will be awarded under "awards" here on jjnet. You need to be fast signing up for this tourney, because there is a 32 player limit!

As long as the mappool is at least somewhat credible (which I don't doubt in the least)... gg
|

The MapPool and Rules are viewable for everyone now, and they should be somewhat final ones. Everyone should read them carefully. Remember that the MapPool is binding like in BatTourney, but you are allowed to veto 2 maps from it(10 maps total.)
Since I am an organizing admin of the tournament,(with Sasik as an assistant admin) I won't be playing myself unless I happen to be the last player needed to complete the sign ups,(in case there is no one else) or if another player equal to me decides to leave the tournament in the first stage. Also for players who sign up: I really suggest you put some effort for contacting your opponent when you should be facing him/her. I won't be taking this tournament to the end if more than half of the matches are technical wins after the first couple of stages.

Hello Alex!
![]() Also some old and classical tournament players like Vegito, spaceboy, CelL, and of course the regular tournament maniac player Enigma would be well appreciated to sign up.

Gj Snz.
Also about your Veto-maps, you can start posting them here now. I will be adding them to your profiles later. Remember, that you aren't forced to veto anything if you want to be 'nice', but I suggest you simply veto the maps you like the least of. Also, pick carefully because you cannot change them after first stage anymore. As well, if several people wish me to sign up anyway, eventhough I work as the main admin of the tournament, then I shall. ![]()

Mine >O
I've decided to veto Knightmare Castleand Technodus Cargo Station.
(sorry Rag, but I honestly think TCS is unbalanced, even when dueling ;d) EDIT: Changed SBv2 to KMC. Last edited by PurpleJazz; Sep 13, 2009 at 12:11 AM. Reason: sbv2 annoying however I could adjust to it, KMC however is complete random and duels are often like winning a coin toss |

Well, I must admit I am more than impressed by the activity. It has been 9 hours since the sign ups opened, and already 23 players signed up. Keep it, people!
![]() By the way CelL, remember to add yourself to the sign up page! I've counted you in for now though.

So just tell me if you mind playing, and I'll find a replacement for you. (I think I got somebody already.
![]() So during the first sign up day, a total of 27 players signed up. Good job!

Yeah, well...that was an amazingly FAST sign up for this amount of players. 32 players under 24 hours! Apparently JJnet is also enough popular for it's regular visitors to make this possible.
@Foly: The content of the Tournament-section seems broken right now, I guess Dan will fix it in time, or it might be that he is editing the code or something. By the way, I'd like to note you that this tournament might get started on tomorrow already.

That would be nice, considering I can only play at weekends :\ .. so better today than tomorrow ;o.
Anyway, I didn't add my email to the sign up list cause I dont want spam bots to find it. It's not encrypted. If I have to duel you, I will contact *you* unless you find me on IRC >: ) |

The duel tourney page oughta be fixed in a flash (or alternatively someone should post the mappool here).

The Mappool is very well done, good job. I'm pretty optimistic this will be one of the best jj2 tournaments we've had so far. I have a good feeling about this.
I don't have any strong opinions on which levels I want to veto except KMC and BBswing. Also, I will be very strict on who's allowed to host my duels, so I hope there will be no trouble for that. |

I'll veto Cassis Factory and Slab Ratz. (Raven)

Before this tourney starts. I think it's appropiate to state that the dueling results will probably be quite surprising, since this tournament has a mappool focused mainly with balanced levels and newer less played levels. There are definitely some strong players signed up for this tournament, heck anyone can win. That said, I encourage everyone to be smart and watchful of cheating or suspicious activity. After all, it's just a game and nothing really carries that much or any weight (Your bad because you kill people!). So in the end someone has to win, no matter who's against who.

I agree, theres 2 levels I dislike and I could even veto them out
![]() I hope, as FS said, that this will be one of the best tournaments we've had so far. It's quite long ago since we had a serious tournament try. |

First match of the tournament complete
PurpleJazz vs Micky
1st Choice: Swingin' Jazz (Micky) Score: 2-1 Winner: PurpleJazz Comments: This was his choice. It took quite a long time as he was quite hard to kill, since he tended to create seeker walls a lot. Still a decent game, although I could've probably been a bit faster and/or a bit more careful. The timelimit ran out, so we didn't make it to 5 points although we still had a winning result. 2nd Choice: Mediveal Skyscrapers (PurpleJazz) Score: 5-0 Winner: Micky Comments: I really don't know what happened here. I wanted to save my best levels for later rounds so I decided to go with a different choice. However, turns out I suck horribly here. I played like a total idiot, often letting him get away or running straight into his seekers. Not only that, the server lagged horribly in this game, and I got aired several times and even a 3hk. 3rd Choice: Jungle's Edge (Neutral) Score: 5-0 Winner: PurpleJazz Comments: Well, after that horrible MS game I felt like getting my revenge. Plus, I was kinda desperate not to lose on the first round. :P Good game. Overall Winner: PurpleJazz (7-6) Thanks to Semili for hosting the first two games, and Zeal Duels for hosting the neutral game! |

As some of you may have already seen the News on JJnet, I'd like to report the rest here as well, that the tournament has begun. The deadline for one stage is 2 weeks by default, but for the first stage it has been already extended, and so the absolute deadline is now 3 weeks, since SR and musti cannot play for the next 2. So:
Deadline: October 4th Also, I will be soon adding everyone's veto-maps in playernames, so you'll find them out easier. Remember that if you forgot to veto any maps at all, you can still do that even after your first match. However changing vetos is forbidden, as the rules say. When you manage to contact your opponent and agree on a time for your match,(you can play immediately as well, if it fits you two) you should then post it here so I'm able to put it in the schedule on the website. As you may see the draws made were not full random(which would have been unfair for the more experienced players.) But still pretty much random, so that it's not 100% balanced, which can be exciting in it's own way. I managed to make the draws handily with my own Dice-level, with the assistance of DanZeal, Ragnarok, and Snooze, so credits for them. Now go ahead, and begin playing. ![]() EDIT: Well done PJ. That was fast, I admit.

Snz won both games by a pretty large amount. On AYB, I was able to get a kill or two, and I believe one of my points was a rush, but he still dominated for the most part. I was nver really able to get the carrot. For my choice, I was originally going to pick destroyed cassis factory, but it wasn't on the server's level list. Then I picked knightmare castle, which he had vetoed, so we ended up playing on my third choice, Jungle's Edge. He pretty much dominated, and i never got a kill.
Good games.

Just for the record, I'll likely be busy during the next few weeks, so if possible could any of my future opponents try to avoid arranging matches on a Monday or Thursday? Thanks.
