Firstly Check With Spy Host a server and look what it says

if it says "Connected with jazz.logicware.com"

Then it should be ok if it doesnt

And what kind of firewall is it? Does it only block incoming connections? Or does it block all connections?

Are you allowed to make exceptions though? I know that ZoneAlarm is able to allow certain applications either outgoing access or full (server) access, without disabling the entire firewall.

(As I asked already,) what kind of firewall is it?

I don't know much about software firewalls anymore, but I know that they will not let JJ2 work online unless you configure it properly. If you're not allowed to do that, then you're out of luck.
