Just a question....
I know this belongs in the JCS section, but that hasn't had a new post since 03/29/03, so after somebody answers me, you can move this topic there if you want. Anyway, how big is the ingame viewsize? Rephrasing it, how big would I have to make a level to make it so everything fits on the screen in game, you can't see anything around it, or past it? I don't really know how to phrase this, so I hope you understand what I'm saying.

Hehe, the stickies appear at top. The last reply to a sticky was in March. The last post, as you can see from the topic listed right below it, was today.
The view sizes are visible in the "Video" menu. 640x480 pixils is the most. Since a tile is 32x32 pixils, that would be 20x15 tiles. Hope this helps. ;-P

Actually, I think it's 641x481, as you can see if you make a 20x15 level, it will jerk around by one pixel. My theory is that this is for splitscreen seperation lines.

That would be very odd, cuz it probably means bad programming.

No conventional monitor supports 641x481. Jazz2 is run in 640x480 by default. The "jerking around" is there, but it has nothing to do with the resolution.

Make a level that is 21x16. That's the only way to prevent the screen jerking.

What happens if you make a level 19x14?

Moved to JCS, believe me, it's monitored far more than you know

< 20x15
The box is placed in the top-left corner of the screen. Looks kind of cheesy. 20x15 The screen scrolls a single pixel (this is the jerking refered to earlier) when you approach the edge. 21x16 The screen scrolls a single tile when you appraoch the edge. All of the playable area is still visible at all times. Any of the above solutions will work. I prefer the 20x15 level, because one pixel is not that big a deal, and it's not too distracting. Certainly better than 1 tile, I think. -Nag |

I think I made a 9x9 level once, just to see.

The level smaller than 20x15 is quite weird. When you approach the right side, the screen fits to it. When you go back to left side, it goes back to it again. Same goes vertically.

Yes, it is.
Lab Rat Kid, I stole your idea, and made a tiny battle level. I put it on the laptop, so I might get it up eventually. It looks nice.

I was under the impression minibattle meant "small-but-still-wasn't-all-on-one-screen," and that you, being the person you are, thought "Hey, why not go even smaller?"
