I've been to www.dns2go.com and registered a domain name and then d/l ed the client, and im on the net and the client is running, all is well so far...I have it set to point my domain to my IP address so it should work, but i sent a regedit file to my friend with 000=tom.idlegames.com in it and he cant connect to me
Why????? How did you other get it working?? TomMK |

The DNS2go client and system thingie is only used to make a dns (like mycomp.dns2go.com) point to your IP (123.45.67.89)
Using your computer as a list server is completely different. To be a list server, you need to use the JJ2 list server program. |

The people put in the registry just the domain names of 1 or more servers where the game connects to, also don't add more than 3 lists of course, when you host a server it tries to connect to the lists on your registry or the ones that are stored in JJ2 exe file.
But if it tries to connect to 3 lists that are down, the game 'gives up' and starts the gameloop. And the Jazz Jackrabit 2 List Servers program, umm, I dunno if I can give it. :P |

I here what you're saying about there being loads of domain names already but i don't want anyone to know my one, most of my friends are not very computer literate and it would be nice and convienient if they could just see my server come up on its own and no-one else joins our games. They don't want to play other people online so there's no need to point them to the jazz.logicware.com server.
_Please_ could someone send it to me TomMK |

Yuld give it, but I dunno if I should.
Btw Stil, Jazz2.exe has 2 lists inside list.jazzjackrabbit.com And some that I dun remember the name exactly, I think it was the.wolfo.mofo.co.uk, I'll check it someday, if u wanna know that just run Jazz2 with a Spy window. Jazz2.exe -spy Then host a server and try To remove the spy window just open jazz2 with this command line. Jazz2.exe -nospy And if u want Jazz 2 to pass the list.jazzjackrabbit.com list just add this into your registry: 000=jazz.logicware.com The game will 'forget' to use list.jazzjackrabbit.com Cause as you know, when u retrieve the servers list it does at order, first one, then the other and then the other and so on. But when you host it picks a random one from the regedit, so that's y sometimes a server takes years to start and it appears with a black screen, if the game tries 3 lists that are unworking then it 'gives up' and starts the game without being listed. |
