JazzNET Revisited?
Hey guys. One of my favorite things about any jazz2 site (including J2O) is the articles. The problem is, there's no easy way to know if anything that interests me has been added.
A long time ago in a...well...a long time ago, I was working on a project called JazzNET that would act as a kind of online magazine for the Jazz community. Here's how it would work: The magazine would have different 'columns' such as JCS, multiplay tips, general game news, rumors, etc. for which any member of the community could write articles. A select few individuals would take all submissions and act as editors for those articles that are selected for each month's issue. One or more people would then assemble all of the articles in a magazine-like format for release each month. Of course, old issues would be archived for later viewing/searching. What do you think? It could be a cool way to organize articles, and inspire people to write them. The end. |

That would be interesting. But I doubt it would get much visitors as a webpage. Since J2Ov2 will be released in Q1 2004. However, it wouldn't have most of what you said, it will probably keep people away from visiting your website.
Here's an idea, how about making it a cool mailing list? There are still abilities to use HTML etc. in it that way. And I think quite a few people would still be interested in signing up. |

I was planning that for Stuff is Good, but simply lacked the time involved to make it anything interesting...having monthly articles and whatnot would indeed be interesting. I always have liked the concept, and hope something can be made of it.

I like this idea. The articles system really isn't great because bad articles are mixed in with good articles. Having an online magazine or mailing list with high-quality articles would be really good.
The difficulty would be keeping it updated and keeping people interested. It would need to have original, informative, interesting, and provocative articles, and would need to be updated probably at least once a week. The weekly mailing list idea might actually work better, because people would stay informed and it would really only need several articles per week With a website, especially one not a part of J2O, it will be hard to keep people visiting it regularily. I would be willing to help with this.
